POSITION TITLE: JK-8th Grade Theater Arts Specialist
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT (PT 60-80% TBD/10 months)
REPORTS TO: Associate Head of School for Teaching and Learning
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS
Knowledge, understanding, and commitment to the Riviera Ridge School mission, vision, and core values.
BFA and/or MFA in Performing Arts preferred, plus a minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience at the elementary or middle school level
Experience with directing children/adolescents in musicals and large-scale productions
Flexibility in working across grade levels and with students at varying levels of artistic abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of the subject area and a strong background in curriculum and instruction, classroom management, and assessment
Ability to interact with students, parents, faculty, and staff
Strong ability and flexibility in working with a variety of faculty across divisions
Ability to supervise adjunct or seasonal production staff
Knowledge/ability of how to accommodate activities for and work with students with identified learning differences
Conversant in 21st century education practices
Proficiency in Google Suite and Google Apps for Education
Experience with a variety of technology in the classroom, such as computers (Mac), digital projectors, document cameras, Interactive Whiteboards, and iPads
Experience with technical theater and music technology related to large-scale productions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Design and collaborate with performing arts faculty to create and implement annual RRS Performing Arts programming
Oversee Middle School Performing Arts Program and curriculum, including performing arts electives (3) and potential Performing Arts Honors course in collaboration with the Middle School Division Coordinator
Works in collaboration with Division Coordinators to provide performing arts integration in the development and implementation of the arts within the Kaleidoscope Program and/or other inclusive curricular programming
Serves on the Middle School Faculty Team in the STEAM2 Electives and Honors Program.
Oversee and collaborate with MS/LS Division Coordinators to plan and implement all school assemblies and performance events
Select, design, and direct an annual Middle School Musical with JK-8 Music and JK-8 Visual Arts specialists.
Hire and supervise all Middle School Musical staff and artists as needed, working with HR staff to coordinate necessary hiring protocols
Collaborate, direct, and/or support artistic assemblies and grade-level performances with JK-8th Grade Music Specialist, Lower School Lead Faculty, and/or Middle School Advisors, including but not limited to:
MS Fall Musical
LS Halloween Sing
MS Inspired Minds Evening Event
All School Grandparents' Day & Kaleidoscope Celebration
LS Winter Holiday-Kaleidoscope Program
All School Martin Luther King Jr. Assembly
LS Spring Sing
LS Enrichment Spring Musical
MS Baccalaureate and Graduation
Manage Performing Arts budget, working with Division Coordinators as needed
Work with the Director of Marketing & Communications, respectively, to manage publicity of all artistic events, all school assemblies, and community projects
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work in a school environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
Occasionally, bend, stoop, and squat
May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time
Be able to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.
Willing to work some evenings and weekends for school-related events or projects

This position is a permanent, part-time position. Pay is competitive and is commensurate with education, experience, and skills.
Salary Range: $55,000-$75,000 + Benefits
