AUTOMATED GATE TECHNICIAN

Consolidated Overhead Door and Gate is a family owned and operated small business with a long history of serving the residents of Santa Barbara County area. We endeavor to deliver exceptional services to all our clients in the tri-county area. We are currently seeking a responsible, dedicated, and self-sufficient Automated Gate Technician to join our team and provide essential support in our daily operations.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

An Automated Entry Gate Technician maintains, services, and installs gate automation equipment, telephone entry systems, battery-backup equipment, FDC Switches, and custom prefabricated vehicular and pedestrian gates for residential and commercial applications. Job may require welding, pulling wire, trenching, running conduit, low-voltage wiring, installing in-ground loops, sensors, minor concrete work and woodwork or more. Technician is responsible for repairing, trouble shooting, servicing, estimating, and installing Security/Access control products onsite (at customer location), ensuring the quality and timeliness of service calls. Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of and strictly adhere to ASTM F2200 and UL325 codes as pertains to gates and gate automation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Manage all on-site repairs, general maintenance, replacement and/or installation of new gates, gate automation equipment and telephone entry systems.

 Installation of steel, wood and glass vehicular slide gates, swing gates, barrier gates and pedestrian gates.

 Diagnose and troubleshoot automation system errors and potential gate infrastructure and/or structural issues.

 Provide excellent customer service and technical support while on-site and via phone or email communications with client.

 Produce detailed service reports and itemize parts list as used on each job.

 Produce quotes for repairs, new equipment or installations as needed to maintain the customer’s system in good working order.

 Build and maintain a positive relationship with customers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Experienced candidates must possess prior knowledge of gate equipment manufacturers typically used in our area, as well as knowledge of equipment, methods, and standards of gate installation as well as wireless communication installations.

 Prior ‘Home Services’ field service or construction trades experience

 Ability and proficiency for troubleshooting, testing, and repair of controls: circuit boards, low voltage wiring and various types of AC, DC and Hydraulic Operators.

 English literacy, Spanish a plus

 Familiarity with power tools & hand tools, own hand tools required.

EXPERIENCE:

 Construction Technology Certification or Union Apprenticeship Training Program

 Trades Work Experience: Journeyman or Apprentice (Electrician, Carpenter, Mechanical/Pluming, Welding, etc.)

 Security Systems & Alarms Installer or IT/Audio/Visual and Communications Technician.
