Director of Human Resources

Alisal Ranch seeks a Director of Human Resources to oversee the HR function in leading and creating initiatives, systems, and best practices to recruit, develop, and train a diverse and high-performing workforce while continuing to build an organizational culture that supports advancement of our mission and strategic plans. Will help lead and develop strategies for talent management, internal communication processes, performance management, employee relations, leadership, safety, and security. Must have a passion for service and serving our team. This position reports directly to the General Manager and is part of the executive management team.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

Directs the functional areas of HR including, but not limited to, retention, personnel records, employee relations, job evaluations, compensation management, benefits administration, organizational development, workers compensation, safety, training, EEO, employee housing and special projects.

Responsible for maintaining a highly engaging culture, motivating employees, and fostering an environment with high levels of teamwork, accountability, communication, and vision for employees.

Develops, updates, and helps implement Ranch-wide policies and procedures related to HR.

Develops organizational strategies by identifying and researching human resource issues; contributes to the organization’s strategic direction.

Works closely with executive leaders and management to advise, counsel, and provide coaching and resolution to address employees’ performance.

Works closely with management and employees to provide consultation and guidance to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

Plans and makes improvements to new employee orientation and other training programs to help achieve company goals.

Oversees candidate recruitment, hiring, and on-boarding in conjunction with the HR Manager.

Collaborates with managers to update and maintain accurate job descriptions.

Designs and implements an enhanced performance management system and provides guidance to management staff.

Develops internal staff training and identifies relevant available external training.

Evaluates and administers employee benefit plans including health insurance and 401(k).

Researches, implements, and maintains salary scales.

Assists with payroll function to ensure employees are compensated in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Payroll Administrator reports to Director of Finance with dotted-line reporting to Director of HR.

Oversees all 401(k) administration responsibilities in coordination with Finance and our third-party administrator.

Understands, interprets, and shares relevant laws related to personnel management and ensures all HR processes and actions comply with these laws.

Reviews current HR systems and explores, and ultimately implements, new systems based on organizational needs.

Supervises Safety and Security and Employee Housing as managed by the Safety and Security Manager.

Oversees activities of the HR Manager and HR Assistant.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in a related field such as HR or Organizational Psychology.

Minimum 7-10 years of HR Business Partner/Generalist/Director experience. California HR experience and knowledge required. Hospitality background preferred.

Requires a demonstrated passion for service, leadership, change management, policy implementation, decision-making, and organizational communication.

Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Requires knowledge of managing budgets to achieve financial goals.

Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive matters.

Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with ADP Workforce Now and/or other HRIS software required.

Spanish language fluency a plus but not required.
