Description If you love Human Resources and you're looking for an exciting, new Generalist opportunity, Robert Half has the opportunity for you. In this role, you will perform various HR duties, including recruiting, conducting new hire orientation, updating the employee handbook, and managing employee relations. This is a temporary contract opportunity in the Santa Barbara, CA area lasting several months.Major responsibilities
Draft templates for HR documents, including the Employee Handbook
Create & /or support a recruitment plan according to business and operational projections
Engage with other teams, including with upper management, employees, and third-party vendors
Employee relations, including engaging employees and coordinating sensitive conversations
Compare federal, state, and local laws to current internal policies and procedures
Develop employee engagement plans, including budget approvals and management oversite
Responsible for operations tasks for the HR department
Evaluate employee performance, including appraising pay scales, assisting with annual reviews, and coordinating disciplinary action (including terminations if necessary)
Create official internal documents such as offer letters, appointment letters, salary adjustments, updates to the employee handbook, leave of absences, and warning/termination letters
Manage digital and physical files for employees and their documents, including benefits, attendance records, and annual reviews
Develop onboarding plans and train newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations
Work with other members of the HR department to oversee the hiring and onboarding process for new company employees
Requirements - Strong knowledge of local, state and federal laws
Full cycle recruiting experience
Candidates who are highly professional, as well as able to use good judgment and maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity, will be preferred
Skilled in technology applications and software, as well as social media platforms
Prior experience implementing and coordinating Open Enrollment is a plus
Eagerness to work independently as well as part of a team with flexibility and willingness to learn and take initiative on variety of tasks and projects
Excellent written and verbal business skills
B.A. or B.S. degree preferred, preferably with a Human Resources or Psychology emphasis
Prior HR experience in a Generalist capacity
Experience using Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
