Direct Service Instructor Position at Independent Living Institute LLC
Overall Responsibility:
Under supervision the Direct Service Instructor (DSI) provides one-on-one targeted services to program participants – adults with developmental disabilities. ILI programs are designed to assist individuals in reaching customized goals in a community based setting.
Our services focus on assisting the individual to acquire, retain or improve their skills in various areas that directly affect his/her ability to reside as independently as possible in the community with a minimum of support. ILI reserves the right to adjust employment hours and days of operation based upon participant needs and specific requirements to fulfill contract obligations.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Collaborate with Supervising Lead Instructor to develop necessary reports, provide participants progress and updates.
-Provide one-on-one direct services to participant(s) including but not limited to: instruction, meeting goals, data collection.
- Assist in securing housing, monitor medical appointments and records, including recording medication log, and assist participants in emergencies (i.e. medical, legal) if needed.
- Team with the other instructors serving the assigned individual to support each other and provide more effective services.
- Communicate with your SLI whenever you have any doubts, questions or concerns; Do not hesitate, they are there to help.
- Carry out instructions of any Behavioral Management Plan that may be in place (developed by a qualified behavioral specialist)
- Document hours of direct service and prepare bi-monthly billings with necessary backup documentation, maintain records of participant services and type of services.
- Interface with private and government agencies.
- Provide frequent participant updates, recording client progress and attendance, as well as assistance completing Special Incident Reports (SIR)
- Maintain current credentials and update training as required by ILI, the State of California and/or other Professional licensing.
- Use specific adaptive skills for participants who may be deaf, blind, or physically disabled as needed.
- Follow individuals served transportation and scheduling plans, medical appointments, recreational activities, field trip(s), and vacation plan(s), per SLIs instructions.
- Safeguard any ILI equipment and/or electronic devices you may have been provided for work.
- Other duties as required to secure safe and quality services for the individual served.

Experience:
- Working with disabled adults: 1 year (Preferred)
