Description We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Materials Handler for a biotech client located in San Mateo, CA. As a contractor, you will play a key role in managing the inventory and supply chain operations of a fast-paced biotech environment. This is an onsite position requiring physical presence to assist with shipping, receiving, inventory organization, and overall materials management.The ideal candidate thrives in hands-on roles, has a strong attention to detail, and demonstrates excellent organizational skills. Prior experience in life sciences, biotech, or similar regulated industries is preferred.
Perform shipping and receiving activities, including reviewing incoming and outgoing materials, verifying deliveries, and documenting transactions.
Manage inventory levels by organizing, stocking, and labeling materials in designated storage areas.
Assist with material pick-ups, transfers, and delivery to different departments or teams within the facility.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of inventory records by conducting periodic cycle counts and reconciling discrepancies.
Safely handle and transport materials, ensuring proper storage to prevent damage or contamination.
Assist with proper documentation and reporting related to inventory management, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards in the warehouse and storage areas.
Perform general troubleshooting and resolve issues relating to materials or inventory when needed.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as procurement, production, and quality control to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in logistics, supply chain, or materials management are a plus.
1-3 years of experience in materials handling, inventory management, or warehouse operations; biotech or life sciences industry experience preferred.
Familiarity with inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar software) is highly desirable.
Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or other regulated environments is a significant advantage.
Ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs. and operate material-handling equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks (certification a plus).
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
Effective communication and teamwork skills to work in a cross-functional biotech environment.
Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced workplace.
