The Cell Quality & Reliability team at Cuberg specializes in identifying, characterizing, quantifying and predicting features and defects of battery cells that impact their quality, performance and safety. Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. degree in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering or a related field
Able to work in person in San Leandro, California, for a duration of 6+ months
The willingness to work both in a desk/computer setting as well as the lab/production line setting
The inclination to take initiative and ownership of your work and the ability to prioritize tasks
A strong attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Responsibilities
Contribute to the Cell Quality & Reliability (QR) team’s efforts in improving understanding of cell manufacturing defects vs. Li-metal cell design
Support in creating, collecting, organizing and analyzing cell and component samples for failure and root cause analysis (FA, RCA)
Support development of CT scan workflows, data collection and experimentation
Use microscopy and other characterization techniques to analyze samples from Cuberg cells
Develop failure analysis techniques to elucidate Li-metal failure mechanisms
Support or own design of experiments (DOE) for evaluating relationships between cell performance and safety, and cell defects and design
Build scripts for analyzing cell cycling and production data
Support with cell destructive physical analysis (DPA) data entry and findings
Prepare and present regular reports coming from quality defect, CT scanner, and cycling analysis projects
BenefitsThe target US compensation range for this internship position is $22/hr - $35/hr + paid time off. Compensation ranges are determined by level, role and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the target for new hire total cash compensation, individual pay is determined by additional factors including relevant job-related skills, experience and additional factors.
