Position Purpose: Senior Project Engineer – Performs & plans commissioning of electrical systems. Must be a self-motivated & energetic professional. Must have understanding of building electrical systems design & construction. Must have experience with commissioning process of electrical systems ranging in size, rating and complexity. The ideal candidate shall possess theoretical and practical knowledge in the commissioning, testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems and related controls. Candidate will be responsible for reviewing project information; coordinating and executing daily field activities; maintaining project documentation; assisting the Project Manager with schedule and planning of resources; and providing guidance to Project Engineers. May perform as team lead on small to medium sized projects. Will be expected to assess and test at a high technical level. This role requires the candidate to have technical competency, organizational skills, good communication skills, and to work well in a team environment where leadership is necessary.Primary Duties/Responsibilities: List essential job functions that comprise the job; describe in terms of actions (verbs) and desired outcomes in order of most important first:Commission electrical distribution equipment and related controls, primarily in data center environments, including high voltage and medium voltage systemsReview system designs for compliance with client facility goalsPrepare plans and procedures for execution of the commissioning processConduct commissioning activities from the design phase through the occupation phase, in accordance with client requirements and industry commissioning process best practicesAttend factory testing of equipment and document procedures and resultsConduct functional testing of equipmentPerform analysis of test results using instrumentation and prepare reportsUnderstand critical power quality requirements and test proceduresPerform thermographic surveys and analyze resultsFully document all field procedures including results, issues and observations either via company provided templates or online applicationsReport on system performance and make technical recommendations on issuesWork with the Project Manager and project teams to coordinate and execute field activitiesPrepare and provide input on commissioning project documentation and schedulesDraft comprehensive test procedures for a variety of equipment and systemsAttend relevant project coordination and schedule meetings as necessaryMay be required to lead commissioning meetings or speak on technical topicsAssist with submitting and maintaining daily commissioning reportsTrain and guide both Associate Project Engineers and Project Engineers on roles & responsibilitiesRespond to project team and client inquiries in a professional and timely mannerComply with company, client, and project safety requirementsBe knowledgeable with building equipment, including, but not limited to:GeneratorGenerator Paralleling SwitchgearHigh / Medium / Low Voltage Transformer (XFMR)Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS Systems)Battery SystemsHigh / Medium / Low Voltage Switchgear (SWGR)Low Voltage Main Switchboards (MSB)PLC ControlAutomatic and Semi-Automatic Switching ControlsElectrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS)Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS)Static Transfer Switch (STS)Power Distribution Unit (PDU)BuswaysRemote Power Panel (RPP)Grounding SystemsLighting Control SystemsWork Environment:Travel nationwide 50% - 75% if not assigned locally; may have periods of higher travel expectation.
