GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner. Negotiates with suppliers on pricing of goods and services. Assist in maintaining, developing and qualifying suppliers ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Generates and processes purchase requisitions, purchase orders and change orders in a timely manner Request quotations from vendors. Analyze vendor quotes for price reasonableness based on purchase history, complexity, and market conditions Negotiates pricing, lead time, and delivery schedules to meet company’s budget, schedule, and inventory objectives Manage existing supplier base. Develop new supply sources when required. Analyze and forecast purchasing needs to support company needs Prepare, maintain and review purchasing files Track and provide status of open purchase orders and quotes Contact suppliers to expedite deliveries and to resolve any order issues Complies with Quality Management Systems (QMS), procedures and guidelines Complies with corporate policies Complies when applicable with regulations Assist departments in resolving purchase order and receiving issues Builds productive internal/external working relationships. Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.Required Experience:KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Minimum 2 years of buying or planning experience utilizing Material Requirement Planning (MRP) or Electronic Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong analytical skills. Strong ability to work in teams. Diligent and detail oriented. Excellent and effective written and verbal communications skills. Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ITAR regulations. Ability to read a Bill of Material (BOM), drawing, specification and datasheet. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the Essential Job Functions, including computer skills. Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements. Communicate and interact effectively with peers, supervisors, and public, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies. Have a willingness and ability to learn and utilize company technology for company required purposes, including, for example training, reviewing and signing policies and procedures, benefits enrollment and changes, and more. Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions. Ability to obtain Security Clearance, if needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or, an advanced degree without experience; or a minimum of 6 years of equivalent work experience. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Office and open cubical environment. Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time. Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, mouse, phones).
