Lead / Principal Java and Data Software Engineer

This is a small, but publicly traded online advertising software company is located in downtown San Jose. The sophisticated and patented Artificial Intelligence software spawned from a research team @ UCLA, replicating the human brain's own neural network and while still growing, now serves 100B transactions / day. Strong personal growth stemming from working with a high performance engineering team and the opportunity to make an impact exist here.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Participate as a lead member of our Engineering team, reporting to and partnering with Director of Engineering.
  • Developing and maintaining low latency, scalable and fault tolerant Java based microservices using technologies such as Redis, Kafka and web servlets.
  • Scale and maintain Data Warehouse(s) powering our analytics frameworks.
  • Maintain configuration and containerized deployments across multiple data centers.
  • The above includes architecture, design and implementation.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent. Masters and PhD degrees are a plus.
  • Prior experience in Ad Tech or other high performance, distributed computing applications.
  • 5+ years of development in Java.
  • Extensive knowledge of servlet containers and architecture.
  • Experience in big data framework (Hive, Spark, Kafka)
  • Experience with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker, ideal.
  • Highly motivated, self-driven, capable of defining own design, and test scenarios.
  • Demonstrated architecture and design skills.
