Design and develop scalable backend systems and services to support core functionalities of the UberEats platform, with a specific focus on optimizing the storefront screens.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Designers, Data Scientists, and other Engineers, to understand requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
Architect and implement RESTful APIs and microservices to enable seamless communication between frontend interfaces and backend systems.
Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of backend services by monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing system components.
Participate in code reviews, provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, and promote best practices for software development and engineering excellence.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in backend software development, with a focus on designing and implementing scalable, high-performance systems.
Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in backend development (e.g., Java, Python, Go, etc.).
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and debug complex technical issues.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud computing platforms and services, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Demonstrated expertise in building and optimizing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, as well as caching mechanisms and message queues.
Proven track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and delivering end-to-end backend solutions.
Dedication to staying updated with the latest trends and advancements in backend technologies and best practices.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
