Description A well-established San Francisco-based law firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Attorney to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. The firm represents clients in complex business disputes, breach of contract matters, fraud claims, business torts, and commercial real estate litigation. This role offers an opportunity to take on substantive litigation responsibilities, including case strategy development, motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation. The selected attorney will work closely with business clients and corporate legal teams, providing strategic legal counsel in high-stakes commercial disputes.Key Responsibilities
Manage a diverse docket of commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, partnership dissolutions, and business torts.
Draft and argue substantive motions, such as motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and discovery-related motions.
Conduct complex discovery, including taking and defending depositions of business executives, financial experts, and key witnesses.
Work directly with corporate clients and in-house counsel to assess litigation risks and develop case strategies.
Prepare for trial, including drafting pre-trial motions, preparing witness outlines, and organizing trial exhibits.
Handle settlement negotiations and participate in mediations and arbitrations to resolve disputes efficiently.
Stay current on California commercial litigation trends, including emerging business regulations, arbitration agreements, and contract enforcement.
Requirements
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school and active California State Bar membership.
4-8 years of commercial litigation experience, including business disputes, contract litigation, and financial fraud cases.
Experience with commercial arbitration and alternative dispute resolution is highly preferred.
Strong oral advocacy skills, with prior experience conducting depositions and representing clients in court.
Ability to manage complex cases independently while working collaboratively with corporate clients and legal teams.
Proficiency in legal research tools (Westlaw/LexisNexis) and eDiscovery platforms.
