Lead Carpenter Job Description

Reports To: Production Manager, General Contractor

Position and Rate: Part Time to Full Time, $22-39 Per Hour, Negotiable, Depending On Experience

Job Summary:

Lead Carpenters are essential to the production team. You should have multiple years of field experience and skills such as carpentry expertise, practical and reasoning skills, physical strength, leadership, time management, customer service, and attention to detail and safety. Demonstrate a proven ability to build decks, patios, custom outdoor projects, additions, remodeling and new construction directly from concept designs and production to execution. Lead Carpenter will provide input and give direction as a vital part of the team through entire construction process.

Credentials and Experience:

Applicant should have at least five years of carpentry experience and have a thorough

understanding of rough, finish carpentry, and all trades associated with home remodeling. The position requires the ability and willingness to work as a team and a willingness to lead other employees and interact with clients. Strong communication skills are vital. All candidates must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation capable of carrying 4’ X 8’ sheet of material as well as material up to 16’ in length.

Responsibilities and Duties:

All Lead Carpenters fabricate and install structures to the highest quality of craftsmanship aligned with project budget.

Measure job sites to order materials needed for projects.

Manage projects to ensure deliverables are met on time and on budget.

Schedule and delegate task management, team and subcontractors.

Communicate effectively and utilize construction management software.

Keep informed of entire project scope, revisions, change orders and schedule changes.

Provide training for proper use of tools and installation methods.

Ensured work order completion and inspection.

Complete daily reports of job progress and forecast material, equipment and labor needs.

Hold themselves and all team members accountable for their work performance, actions and appearance.

Maintain job safety and security.

Establish relationships and manage conflict resolution with all involved parties during projects to create a positive working environment and good attitude through adversity.

Participate in job status meetings with sales, design, production team, crew and homeowners.

This position is to be a team player and help in all areas, as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Layout work and build projects according to plans.

Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools, and instruments involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Ability to deal with criticism constructively and to produce high quality results in stressful situations.

Ability to identify the nature of problems and to generate solutions that take various perspectives into account.

Ability to fulfill obligations and has a 'do-what-it-takes' attitude.

Excellent time management skills.

Willing to work as a team and independently depending on budget and demand.

Possesses an organized outlook on career/life and retains an entrepreneurial spirit

Is reliable, responsible, and dependable.

Tools and Technology:

Owns and maintains a full set of carpentry tools to perform work.

Can operate a variety of machines and use many hand tools.

Construction Management Software database or experience with similar Customer Relationship Management software

Work Schedule and Geography:

Official workday is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. San Diego County.

Physical Demands:

Employees may be required to stand or walk over 75% of the time. Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling may be required. Lifting up to 100 lbs. Must meet vision requirements to obtain a driver’s license.

Work Environment:

Working in wet or humid conditions may be required. Working near moving mechanical parts. Working in high or precarious places may be required. Fumes or airborne particles may be present at worksites. Employees may work in outdoor conditions. Loud noises are typical for this job.
