Journeymen Carpenter / Framer &/or Mason

JJH Construction is looking to add a highly skilled Carpenter / Framer to our team of 30+ employees. Job pays $20 - $32 an hour to start. JJH supplies what is needed for projects. A must for team members is to have basic tools to perform the work, JJH wants a person that takes pride in their work/tools and has the tools to show it.

Carpenter / Framer Candidates must:

- have reliable transportation

- have 5 years minimum carpenter experience

- crafting wood details including custom cabinetry, built-in furniture.

- skills in producing/installing baseboard, crown moldings, wainscoting, and other decorative elements that add sophistication.

- staircase construction, including curved and spiral designs.

- knowledge of wood finishing techniques, including staining, glazing, and lacquering.

- attention to detail

- shaping and forming wood to create curved elements such as arches, rounded moldings, and curved staircases.

- apply veneering techniques.

- staircase stringer layout.

- expertise in reading and interpreting blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications

- accurately calculate material quantities, angles, and measurements for precise work

- exceptional leadership skills, effectively coordinating and supervising carpentry crews in projects

- offers mentorship and guidance to less experienced carpenters, sharing expertise and promoting professional growth within the company.

When moments of carpentry is slow, you must be able to work on other trades in the meantime while more work for carpenter is established. This company does a fair job at keeping everyone staffed as much as possible. Concrete / Mason Journeymen

- Minimum 7 years of experience as a Concrete Foreman in residential construction.

- Proficiency in reading construction plans and blueprints.

- Extensive knowledge of CMU masonry wall construction, flatwork, concrete pouring, finishing, and framing/forming.

- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a construction crew effectively.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to take quantity take-offs and order materials accurately.

- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

- Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials, and tools

- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations

- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities for Journeymen:

- Read and Interpret Plans:

Thorough Analysis:

Conduct a detailed analysis of construction plans and blueprints, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.

Communication with Design Team:

Collaborate with architects and design teams to clarify any ambiguities or discrepancies in the plans, facilitating accurate project execution.

- CMU Masonry Wall Construction:

Structural Integrity Focus:

Emphasize the importance of structural integrity in CMU wall construction, overseeing the proper alignment and placement of masonry units.

Material Selection:

Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure the selection of high-quality CMU materials, meeting project specifications and durability requirements.

-Flatwork Construction:

Site Preparation:

Oversee the proper preparation of the construction site for flatwork, addressing grading, drainage, and soil compaction requirements.

Formwork Installation:

Ensure precise installation of formwork for flatwork, considering the design requirements for driveways, sidewalks, and slabs.

- Concrete Pouring and Finishing:

Pouring Coordination:

Coordinate the concrete pouring process, scheduling deliveries and ensuring a continuous and controlled pour for uniformity.

Finishing Techniques:

Provide guidance on various finishing techniques, such as troweling and broom finishes, to achieve the desired aesthetic and functional outcomes.

- Framing and Forming of Concrete Footings:

Accurate Formwork Setup:

Ensure precise setup of formwork for concrete footings, considering design specifications and load-bearing requirements.

Reinforcement Placement:

Oversee the placement of reinforcing materials within the forms, optimizing the structural integrity of the footings.

Alignment and Leveling:

Verify the alignment and leveling of forms during the concrete pouring process, ensuring uniformity and compliance with design parameters.

- Quantity Take Offs:

Material Quantification:

Quantify the amount of materials required for each project, considering factors such as dimensions, waste, and variations in construction methods.

Cost Estimation:

Collaborate with the estimating team to translate material quantities into accurate cost estimates for project budgeting.
