RECON Environmental is an employee-owned company of specialists representing one of the largest and most established environmental service firms in the Southwest. Founded in 1972 with the emergence of the National Environmental Policy Act and the California Environmental Quality Act, we have provided nearly four decades of continuous service to our valued clients the federal, public and private sectors.

We are currently looking to add an entry to junior level GIS Specialist to complete small-scale projects under the supervision of senior GIS staff. Duties include a high amount of data creation and editing, map production, and an understanding of data collection techniques. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, good verbal and written communication skills, technical field skills, and strong computer skills. Valid driver’s license and a good driving record required.

Essential Job Functions

1. Generates standard and custom products such as maps, diagrams, exhibits, and displays in a neat and well-organized manner using ArcGIS for various environmental review documents.

2. Operates GIS/GPS-related equipment software.

3. Conducts overlay analyses of geographic data sets.

4. Creates metadata specific to client requirements.

5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Requirements

Associate degree in related field with an emphasis in GIS or completion of a college-level GIS certificate program.

Two years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in an environmental consulting environment.

Demonstrated expertise using ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop suite of software applications including ArcGIS Online and Field Maps for ArcGIS.

Demonstrated knowledge of cartography and computer mapping, including design principles and understanding of map creation procedures.

Ability to identify solutions for client needs.

Ability to compile biological, cultural, and other environmental resources information from a variety of sources and present the information in map, tabular, chart, written, and oral formats.

Ability to interpret technical planning maps, including AutoCAD and MicroStation drawings.

Ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines.

Competent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.

Outstanding communication skills.
