SUMMARY
Company Overview:
Pemcor Properties is a well-established real estate company with multiple entities/properties focused on residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Many of the projects are developed from acquisition of the land and the development of the site, up to and including construction. Most entities are NOT launched where the intent is ultimately to have long-term tenants and the tasks associated with managing rental units for residential or commercial tenants.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant to work closely with the managing partner/owner of these entities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the company's accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices, reconciling bank statements, producing complete and accurate financial statements, working with the external tax accountants, and maintaining strong relationships with other entity partners, vendors and external consultants. High ethical standards and integrity in handling confidential information is required.
This is a part-time position, in which the vast majority of work would be performed fully remotely. However, the candidate selected must be a resident of San Diego County California since there will be meetings periodically with the managing partner/owner. It is estimated that the average number of hours per week would be approximately six through ten hours per week. Working hours will need to predominately performed during the hours of 730AM to 530PM and will require that they be done throughout the work week but not necessarily each workday.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Process and verify invoices for accuracy, coding, and completeness.
Ensure timely payment of vendor invoices and resolve any discrepancies.
Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable transactions.
Maintain accurate records of all accounts receivable transactions.
Reconcile bank statements
Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments and Bill.com payments
Reconcile inter-entity receivables and payables to ensure they match
Monitor and track expenses related to property management and development
Maintain accurate records of tenant payments and lease agreements
Produce monthly financial statements for each entity
Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and other analysis
Maintain W-9 files and issue year end 1099s to appropriate parties
Assist with year-end closing activities in conjunction with the external tax accountants
Communicate with vendors to resolve payment issues.
Prepare and maintain various reports, spreadsheets, and schedules as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting very strongly preferred
10+ years of experience in accounting required
Very strong preference for a candidate who has worked in real estate, construction and project development
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Experience with QuickBooks accounting software is required
Experience with Bill.com software is strongly preferred
Experience with other ERP software is preferred
Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work independently and to collaborate with the managing partner/owner
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

REQUIREMENTS
Physical: Work is primarily sedentary; occasionally walks &/or stands. Reaches with hands & arms, climb or balance, & stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Regularly required to lift &/or move up to 15 pounds.
Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of computer keyboard & mouse, writing & typing, & frequent use of hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools & controls.
Audio/Visual: Ability to accurately interpret sounds & associated meanings at a volume consistent with interpersonal conversation. Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish & interpret information received visually & through audio; e.g., words, numbers & other data broadcast aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print & other
media.
Environment: Primarily works in an indoor office environment, & some in an outdoor environment with varying temperatures. Noise levels on project sites can be high. The office space is a dog friendly work environment.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate of pay based on CA marketplace and overtime if required due to hours worked per California law (would be highly unusual)
