Production Shift Lead - Direct Hire (Poway)

Worldwide manufacturer of high-quality water treatment products in North County San Diego seeks motivated manufacturing Shift Leads. This position is direct-hire, regular, full-time employment.

The Shift Lead is responsible for ensuring that daily production activities for the assigned shift are carried out. This includes productivity, efficiency, product quality and the safety of assigned shift employees, as well as assist in areas of the production/assembly process when requested. In addition, the Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing the training and cross-training of new and current employees and able to assign tasks and delegate when the Shift Supervisor is absent, considering safety and quality while meeting production targets.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment that includes at least one year of lead or supervisory experience; and possess effective leadership and communication skills (both verbal and written). High school diploma, GED certificate or equivalent is a requirement.

This position reports directly to the Shift Supervisor and is assigned to one of the 12-hour production work schedules (Day: 6am – 6pm or Night: 6pm – 6am).

Essential duties include:

Ensure that daily production activities for the assigned shift are carried out. This includes productivity, efficiency, product quality and the safety of shift employees.

Assist in areas of the production/assembly process when requested.

Responsible for overseeing the training and cross-training of new and current employees and able to assign tasks and delegate when the Shift Supervisor is absent, considering safety and quality while meeting production targets.

Effectively conduct and lead shift start meetings and other team meetings if needed.

Understand, support, and adhere to the company’s policies and procedures.

Perform all work duties assigned while following established safety practices and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering/working in designated areas where PPE is required that meet OSHA and company policies, guidelines and standards.

Immediately communicate with Shift Supervisor, Operations Manager, and/or Senior EH&S Specialist if any unsafe situation is observed, or if workflow or processes may be affected that could lead to downtime in production so that it can be resolved timely.

Immediately report all work-related injuries and illnesses (for self or other employees) even if it is minor, to the Shift Supervisor, Operations Manager and/or Senior EH&S Specialist so that it can be addressed timely.

Other duties and responsibilities not included above but related to the position, when assigned.

Essential Physical Tasks:

Lifting items weighing between 10-55 pounds repeatedly for the duration of an 8-12 hour shift

Pushing tables/carts that weigh between 300-400 pounds for the duration of an 8-12 -hour shift.
