Materials Management Specialist

Outstanding Biosciences company is seeking a self-starter, highly motivated individual, with a track record of high quality independent work for the role of Material Management Specialist. This role will participate in the warehousing, procurement, inventory management, shipping and receiving activities for theTechnical Operations department. This will be a full-time position located at the facilities in San Diego, CA. This position will report to the Head of External Mfg. /Supply Chain.

Responsibilities:

The Specialist will play a variety of roles based on experience, knowledge, and company business requirements, which includes supporting enterprise-wide and GMP specific procurement, as well as materials and inventory management.

Perform inventory management, GMP warehousing operations, logistics, inspection, shipping & receiving, bill of materials management, and materials planning per Company's training and SOPs.

Oversee the planning, storage, control, and distribution of temperature sensitive raw materials and consumables to support enterprise-wide (R&D, CMC, GE Lab, and Pilot Lab) requirements.

Specific responsibilities include the performing the day-day activity – Inspect, receive, identify, quarantine, store, handle, dispense, release, and issue raw materials, starting materials, intermediates, reagents, labels, GMP supplies and packaging materials.

Coordinate disposition of all expired materials and maintain applicable documentation.

Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory (paper and electronic) and expiration for all GMP materials. Experience working with inventory management systems or ERP systems is a plus.

Work closely with the quality group to execute existing materials management SOPs and business processes and participate in internal GMP inspections when needed.

Experience in vendor quoting, requisition creation, order placement and invoice reconciliation.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

Theoretical knowledge typically achieved with a 4-year degree such as a bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, science or a related field, or have equivalent years of additional experience.

At least 2 years’ experience in Biotech/Pharma lab operations, inventory management and/or procurement and start-up environment.

Skills & Knowledge

Knowledgeable in procurement, shipping & receiving, and inventory management procedures.

Proven ability to initiate, plan, and execute multiple projects effectively.

Strong communication, presentation, and teamwork skills.

Ability to work effectively and negotiate with colleagues.

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and computer technology.

Will require working with hazardous materials.

Work in and around common laboratory equipment.

The regular requirements of an office environment (computers, computer screens, workstations, etc.) apply when not working in or around a laboratory environment.

100% on-site work at one or more of the Shoreline facilities in San Diego, CA.

Evening and weekend work as necessary.
