Eastridge Workforce Solutions is now hiring for Yard Assistants in the Otay Mesa/San Diego area.

Job Title: Yard Assistant

Pay:

$21.00-$25.00 Shifts:

M-F 07:00-4:00pm

M-F 2:00pm-11:00pm

M/T/F 2:00pm- 11pm;

Sa/Sun 08:00am-5:00pm

Position Summary:

The Yard Assistant plays a key role in ensuring that all incoming and outgoing merchandise is processed accurately and efficiently. This position coordinates the entry and exit of trailers and vehicles, verifies equipment condition during exchanges, checks documents, and helps protect and control access to company property. The Yard Assistant also supports import and export processes as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and control trailer and vehicle access to and from the yard.

Inspect shipments and verify exchanges.

Enter trailer and container information into internal systems and maintain accurate Excel records.

Perform regular yard inventory counts and reconcile with the Yard Management System (YMS).

Follow supervisor instructions and established operational procedures.

Conduct routine yard security checks.

Keep work areas clean and organized.

Assist with general yard and warehouse housekeeping tasks.

Complete required checklists and forms accurately and on time.

Assign parking locations for all vehicles and trailers per yard control standards.

Use e-Trak or similar systems to document any damage to equipment.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Inspect and verify merchandise as needed.

Handle In-Bond shipments when required.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

Minimum 1 year of experience with a customs broker or similar operation.

Minimum 1 year of dispatch operations experience.

At least 6 months handling shipping/receiving documents.

Minimum 6 months of inventory control experience.

Experience with oversized imports preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to read invoices, shippers, and bills of lading.

Familiarity with In-Bond shipments and cargo exchanges.

Basic cargo loading and unloading operations knowledge.

Basic computer skills, including data entry and Microsoft Excel.

Understanding security procedures (C-TPAT).

Basic knowledge of HAZMAT and SDS requirements.

Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.

Effective communication skills with customers, vendors, and drivers.

Ability to work well under pressure and collaborate with a team.

Work Environment & Requirements:

Frequent handling and moving of materials.

Work in a warehouse setting, including forklift operations.

Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
