While we use outside resources for some maintenance and repair services, some are done in-house. This position is to provide support and assistance to the Manager in effort to help relieve basic and easy tasks, duties, errands, etc. This added assistance will help increase the productivity and effectiveness of the Manager as well as increase the productivity of the Company in which it supports.
This position will provide support by performing a VARIETY of tasks related to FLEET VEHICLES, EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, BUILDINGS, AND YARDS upkeep, repairs, and general maintenance. ANY COMBINATION OF EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND TASKS OUTLINED BELOW EVERY DAY WILL BE DIFFERENT! This includes running errands, cleaning, organizing, conducting minor repairs, and assisting with more complex maintenance projects. This position also ensures that the Company is maintaining a clean and safe work environment, including tasks associated with correcting safety hazard.
Running ERRANDS may include (but not limited to):
Pick up parts, tools, supplies at home center stores
Pick up auto parts, plumbing parts, or any other type of parts needed for repairs
Taking Company vehicles to get smog or get oil change, dropping them off OR picking them up at a repair center, etc.
General BUILDING maintenance and repairs may include (but not limited to):
Changing light bulbs
Leaky faucets
Aid in helping correct safety hazard deficiencies
Hanging heavy objects or moving heaving objects for office staff
Minor construction repairs
General EQUIPMENT and TOOL maintenance and repairs may include (but not limited to):
Apply “Out of Service” tags on equipment or tools not in service
Replace hoses on equipment
Minor tool repairs
Assist in pump rebuilds
General FLEET VEHICLE maintenance and repairs may include (but not limited to):
Help air up tires and air bags
Using jacks, jack up trucks safely to be worked on
Change flat tires
Assist with replacing brake pads
Replacing burnt-out bulbs in headlights, taillights and blinkers
Adding fluid
General SHOP AND YARD support and maintenance may include (but not limited to):
Assist with morning allocation of installation supplies
Cut metal supports for installers
Picking up trash around the facilities
Cleaning and sweeping around the facilities to maintain cleanliness
Moving pallets with forklift with installation supplies and organizing them in the shop
Stocking installation supplies and help with installation supplies inventory
Help keep maintenance shop organized and clean
Assist with pet control
Break down old equipment that may need to be disposed of or as recycled metal
Breaking down pallets or other objects that need to be disposed of
ASSIST with more complex projects under Manager’s direction may include things like assisting with (but not limited to):
Replace water filtration grates on stone shop flooring
Adding, changing or modifying water lines in shops and/or air lines
Assist with fabrication equipment and tool repairs
Assist with more complicated auto repairs that can be done in-house
OTHER Responsibilities may include (but not limited to):
Work with internal departments
Request Purchase Orders (PO) as necessary
Turn in all receipts and paperwork from repairs to Manager
Research on-line and/or calling shops or stores for parts availability
Research on-line for YouTube how-to-do videos
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS (include but not limited to):
MUST be able to demonstrate GOOD mechanical skills and ability to work well with their hands mechanically
MUST be able to demonstrate GOOD basic construction skills including measurements and mathematical equations
Able to assist with troubleshooting, diagnosing, maintenance and repairing skills.
Must read, speak, write, comprehend English.
Must be able to effectively respond to urgent situations and quickly provide a working solution.
Must be able to follow instructions!
Must be able to work unsupervised.
Follow through, proactive and demonstrate initiative.
Must be capable to work in a non-routine, changing tasks according to urgency, adaptive work environment.
Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the position which is labor intensive, eye-hand coordination, hands-on, heavy lifting, walking, sitting, standing, stooping, bending, climbing, reaching, etc.
Forklift experience preferred.
MUST HAVE VALID CA DRIVER LICENSE AND CLEAN DMV RECORD
