We are a teaching kitchen with 3 venues in San Diego (Herb & Sea, Animae and Herb & Wood). What does that mean?

We are open Tuesday-Sunday and weekend availability is required! Full time OR part time availability OKAY

Job Description

Prepare menu items and necessary ingredients according to prescribed recipes and/or special requests and presentations

Follow all prescribed portioning controls and maintain food safety and quality standards.

Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist. Follow food handling and sanitization standards.

Coordinate food orders to support timely and efficient delivery to each table. Communicate any food delays or issues to Chefs.

Maintain menu item counts and communicate to management and service staff when quantities fall below restaurant specific minimum quantity.

Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions.

Be proficient in the use and operation of all necessary tools and equipment. Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers and communicate repair and maintenance needs to Chef or manager.

Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, ensure recipes are thoroughly followed.

Efficiently run your station during the shift, assist with other stations if floating. Ensure work station is clean and organized at all times.

Be a team player and able to interact with all levels within the organization.

Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional

Setup and break down line and check out with chef at end of shift.

Must follow instruction and prioritize various tasks

Attention to detail and sanitation standards

Ability to work in hot and humid conditions

Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel

Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds

Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).

Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
