Kimball Bar & Eatery is a restaurant and bar in National City focused on warm hospitality, vibrant atmosphere, and exceptional food. We are seeking a passionate and responsible Assistant Manager / Front of House Shift Leader to help lead our team, create an excellent guest experience, and maintain the highest standards of service and operations.

Key Responsibilities – FOH Shift Leader:
Lead day-to-day shift operations with professionalism and urgency
Create a welcoming atmosphere by ensuring all guests are greeted promptly and receive a warm farewell
Supervise team members during service and maintain structure, flow, and communication
Enforce all break requirements and ensure no employee exceeds scheduled hours without approval
Monitor restaurant atmosphere: lighting, music volume, patio setup, TVs, open/close checklist, and general ambiance
Resolve guest complaints and feedback with poise and professionalism
Coordinate with BOH leads and communicate shift needs effectively
Maintain restaurant cleanliness, safety, and guest security standards
Handle POS transactions, cash, discounts, voids, and gift cards with accuracy
Ensure health code standards and cleanliness protocols are met
Support reservation and seating flow, using restaurant’s guidelines
Maintain open communication with management on all shift-related issues
Additional Responsibilities – Assistant Manager:
Support event planning and group functions with final approval by ownership
Assist in developing and implementing new systems and team training programs
Respond to guest reviews on Yelp/Google using brand-appropriate templates
Report maintenance issues or inventory needs to ownership promptly
Oversee team compliance with certifications (food handler cards, bar training, etc.)
Represent the restaurant’s values in all internal and external interactions
Seek management approval for any operational changes or new ideas before implementation
Lead by example: uphold service, cleanliness, and hospitality standards at all times
What We Require:
2+ years of restaurant leadership or shift lead experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work weekends and close at least 4 shifts per week
Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and guest recovery
Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)
