At Valley Farm Market, we’re more than just a grocery store — we’re a community hub where fresh, quality food meets friendly, small-town service. We’re looking for a hands-on, people-focused Assistant Store Manager who can lead with heart, think strategically, and help drive our business forward.

What You’ll Do

As our Assistant Store Manager, you’ll partner with the Multi Unit Store Manager to keep operations smooth, profitable, and people-focused. You’ll be:

Leading and inspiring teams — training, mentoring, and motivating staff across all store departments.

Managing the front of house — ensuring cashiers, grocery clerks, produce staff, and the liquor buyer deliver excellent service.

Driving sales — understanding sales trends, setting and achieving sales goals, and creating strategies to hit targets.

Managing costs — tracking and controlling labor costs, cost of goods, and overall expenses.

Scheduling smart — creating efficient staff schedules that balance coverage, productivity, and budget.

Overseeing inventory — ordering, tracking, receiving, and merchandising grocery and frozen products while keeping backstock organized.

Building relationships — connecting with vendors, evaluating new products, and keeping our product mix fresh and exciting.

Keeping us on track — ensuring price integrity, following company policies, and maintaining a safe, positive shopping environment.

What We’re Looking For

Proven leadership skills with a passion for training and developing high-performing teams.

Strong understanding of labor cost management, cost of goods, and sales analysis.

Ability to set clear goals, measure progress, and adapt strategies to meet or exceed them.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Flexible availability — evenings, weekends, and holidays included.

A customer-first mindset and the ability to create a welcoming, community-centered shopping experience.
