Exciting opportunity to get in on the ground floor at a new cafe & bar in Ocean Beach. We’re a brand new establishment, looking for someone who is keen to be heavily involved in the opening process and can see themselves in this role long-term.
Once we’ve officially opened (targeting end of 2025), you’ll be in charge of the following:
Staff management: Recruit, train, and lead a team of dedicated staff members, including baristas. Organize and execute on staffing certifications, ensuring all staff are current on required certification. Schedule and manage shifts, considering labor laws and business needs. Provide ongoing coaching, motivation, and performance evaluations.
Menu and quality control: Ensure menu offerings reflect the evolving customer needs, seasonal market dynamics, etc. Ensure establishment is meeting health & safety standards.
Customer service: Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and ensure a positive experience. Handle customer feedback, complaints, and requests in a professional and timely manner.
Marketing and promotion: Plan and execute promotional activities and marketing campaigns. Work with owners and staff to create a substantive charitable donation component to the business.
Inventory and supply chain: Work with team to manage and control inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed. Negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effective sourcing. Monitor and reduce waste to maximize cost efficiency.
Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations, including food safety and sanitation standards.Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect employees and customers. Create and maintain procedures to meet high standards for cleanliness.
Hands-on involvement: Plan to work 2-3 shifts per week either as a barista or bartender to stay up-to-date on customer needs & team culture.
You will report to the founders of the business, and have three direct reports: FOH lead, BOH lead and an AGM.
