Delicatessen Clerk/ Sandwich Maker
The Olive Tree Market, a high- volume delicatessen in Ocean Beach is looking for a Deli Clerk/ Sandwich Maker/ Slicer. Individuals with a positive attitude who have a passion for food and people and enjoy going to work in a team environment are encouraged to apply. Consistent daytime schedule always, 9:30am to 5:50pm. Please, only apply for this job if you are able to work weekends. Able to offer both full time and part time hours. Compensation is commensurate with level of experience.
Responsibilities
A Deli Clerk’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Preparing deli sandwiches fresh to order accurately in a high paced environment.
Ability to follow salad recipes and preparing them accurately.
If applicable, ability to use slicer for meats and cheeses.
Provides excellent customer service; greets and engages customers, providing helpful and friendly service and information needed to help customers make product-related decisions.
Selecting and packaging salads and deli products ordered by customers.
Filling, maintaining and rotating products and displays.
Maintains a clean work area at all times; keeps merchandise fresh in compliance with all health code regulations.
Assisting in other duties, as assigned, including daily maintenance of deli department.
Team player with a good attitude, who shows up to work on time, and is a respectful and responsible individual
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Deli department or food prep experience a plus, high school diploma or GED, and knowledge of deli or related food service
Basic knife skills and basic kitchen equipment.
Ability to use meat slicer a plus
Strong ability to work well with people, positive attitude
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced food service environment
18 years of age or older
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English and basic math skills
Spanish, bilingual a plus
