Well known manufacturer of customized rugged computing solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join phenomenal team in San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical engineering, with a strong background in circuit design and system integration. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As a key member of our multi-disciplinary product development team, this role will:

Take ownership of the electrical design for assigned projects, from initial system architecture and block diagrams to detailed circuit design, schematic creation, component selection and BOM generation.

Lead and participate in design reviews, collaborating closely with firmware, mechanical, and test engineers.

Collaborate with the external resources like consultants, PCB layout engineers, and specialty vendors when needed.

Drive debugging, validation, and bring-up of your own designs — and help support and review the work of others.

Mentor junior engineers and technicians, helping to grow the next generation of technical talent.

Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and engineering craftsmanship.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

At least 25 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and demonstrable, equivalent professional experience.

Technical Skills:

Expert-level proficiency in Altium Designer schematic capture tool is essential. A Solid system-level engineering background is essential including:

High-speed board design

Power delivery, signal integrity, and interconnect topology

Experience designing hardware based on microcontrollers, FPGAs, or SoCs.

Digital and analog hardware design

Familiarity with high-speed interface board design and layout standards: HDMI, USB 3.0, DDR4, PCIe.

Solid grasp of HDL and firmware design flows, with experience in digital display controller design preferred.

Experience designing ruggedized systems for harsh environments is a plus.
