In this highly visible role, candidates will be working in a dynamic environment, interfacing across multiple disciplines including system, power, software, and hardware engineers to develop innovative architectures that meet the requirements of Qualcomm growing product portfolio. Candidates will be able to gain exposure to the full product life cycle from pre-silicon to commercialization of Qualcomm chipsets.Preferred Qualifications 6 months to 5 years of academic or industry experience in the following:

Computer Architecture

Real Time Operating Systems

C/ASM programming

Debugging Real Time Embedded Systems using JTAG or equivalent

Compilers / Linkers

Python Scripting

Knowledge of Wireless WAN, LAN, GPS etc. technologies

High performance, low power physical design

Machine Learning

Agile development; Kanban

Version control systems such as Perforce/Git

Personal Attributes / Soft Skills

Technical Domains Product feature areas include, but are not limited to:

Meeting the ever-increasing data rates of 4G/5G,

Analyzing performance for sensors, audio, and modem DSPs,

Imaging and vision (including VR) algorithms on compute DSP,

Machine learning on data sets spanning across generations of product architectures,

IoE/IoT sectors, and

Working with various HLOS on application cores to meet end-to-end performance

Job Responsibilities As a performance and architecture engineer, candidates will own or participate in one or more of the following:

Multiple aspects of architectural analysis and modeling, including forecasting CPU/MIPS, bus bandwidth, and memory utilization for current and next generation chipsets to meet the growing product requirements on processors across various subsystems on the SoC

Perform detailed analysis of the existing software to provide innovative recommendations to improve performance and memory utilization, including software optimizations, SW/HW partitioning, cache/TCM sizing, etc

Develop tools for silicon profiling, validation and debugging across all SOC components

Involvement in pre-silicon evaluations and sign-offs

Scope opportunities for HW acceleration

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.ORMaster's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.ORPhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.Designs, implements, verifies, validates, and commercializes the Wireless WAN (or cellular) core network and data connectivity software solutions on our modem. Work involves implementation of core network and connectivity aspects of our cellular modem from industry specifications for multiple business units. Handles modem project Engineering functions to help with the delivery of our world-class modem solutions. Closely collaborates with other functional groups to commercialize end to end complete modem SW package as a full component. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. 2+ years of experience with programming (e.g., C, C, Python), computer architecture, or embedded systems. 6+ months of WWAN modem development specific experience.Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Applies advanced modem knowledge of core network, data protocols, and design methodology for one area within modem software to execute assignments; participates in and shares own perspective within domain of modem software subject matter expertise in design reviews and project meetings. Develops software to design less well-defined component under some supervision; identifies potential tradeoffs and makes recommendations to resolve issues; collaborates with cross-functional peers to design products that meet customer requirements and standards. Develops unit test cases and possibly test environment to test/verify code for a specific component; works with peers to evaluate the impact of results and validate modem software against specifications; works with modem test team to defines the test plan and test cases. Assists with the integration of modem software into a platform or product; helps resolve issues during integration and commercialization with some guidance. Writes detailed technical documentation and feature descriptions to guide users and/or customers to use or understand content.Level of Responsibility: Working under some supervision. Providing some supervision/guidance to others. Taking responsibility for own work and making decisions with limited impact; impact of decisions is readily apparent; errors made typically only impact timeline (i.e., require additional time to correct). Using verbal and written communication skills to convey basic, routine factual information about day-to-day activities to others who are fully knowledgeable in the subject area. Working within prescribed budget and resources. Completing most tasks with multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively; mistakes may result in some rework. Exercising creativity to draft original documents, imagery, or work products within established guidelines. Using deductive problem solving to solve moderately complex problems; most problems have defined processes of diagnosis/detection; some limited data analysis may be required.
