Job Description SummaryReporting to the Senior Director, Operations Finance for Life Sciences (“LS”), this role is primarily responsible for leading a team in the financial, analytical, and strategic support for operations finance business requirements of the Becton Dickinson Biosciences (“BDB”) business unit. The Associate Director of Operations Finance will provide coordination and analysis of BDB operations results for monthly actual reporting, budgets, forecasts, and 3-year ASR with respect to manufacturing variances, capital, and inventory. This position is also responsible for providing guidance and operations finance support to our Manufacturing Operations team to include but not limited to make/buy decisions, variance analysis, corrective action analysis and recommendation, inventory and capital analysis / planning, and support of the VP of Operations, BDB. We have over 65,000 employees and a presence in virtually every country around the world to address some of the most challenging global health issues.RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for leading a team in the overall collection and consolidation of monthly actual, quarterly forecast, and annual budgets of operational variances, inventory, and capital for BDB operations with emphasis on the following:

Oversight for the financial impact of BDB

Prepare and communicate practical analytical reporting for the BDB leadership team

Accountable for successful budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes for manufacturing plants and related operations functions across BDB operations.

Improves processes across operations finance for BDB

Business partner to the VP of Operations

Actively participates on the Operations Finance leadership council

Creates an open, inclusive environment for employees to grow and challenge themselves

Leader should build a culture of innovation; enabling teams to develop solutions to business problems and elevating those ideas that are successful to the broader group to achieve economies of scale

Ensures accounting treatments are accurate and adhere to GAAP – proactively engages the Controller organization for technical treatments where disagreement or uncertainty exists

Align with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures

Align with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles

Plant site and headquarter visits, as required

Coordinate with Real Estate Transformation (Curie) team on CAPEX and OPEX during project life

Ad hoc support or special projects, as required

Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial systems and reports maintained and prepared by the cost accounting functions. If there are errors or incorrect compilation of financial data, management will be misinformed.

QUALIFICATIONSEducationBachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance Required

MBA/ CPA/ CMA preferred

ExperienceOperations Finance, Costing & Analysis background required

Minimum 6+ years of accounting experience required

Minimum 3+ years of management experience required

Previous experience within BDX Operations Finance preferred

Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong Financial systems and tools knowledge and utilization skills (HFM, SAP, JDE, BPC).

Proficiency in Excel as validated by previous experience crafting and manipulating sophisticated spreadsheets (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, etc.) required.

Previous ERP costing experience (SAP / JDE highly desirable) related to standard cost build-ups and work order variance analysis.

Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required.

Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

Confirmed ability to apply logic, reasoning, and critical thinking in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Build credibility with and challenge partners to drive initiatives and deliver high impact solutions to meet business needs.

Resilient and persistent when faced with obstacles.

Ability to lead multiple/meticulous tasks within timelines.

Tight-knit collaboration to establishing rapport with all partners, and influence management through informed discussions and presentations.

Key RelationshipsInternal Relationships: All functions in BDB, Finance groups of other BD divisions, and Corporate Finance.

External Relationships: Auditors and consultants.
