Seeking Knowledgeable Music Tutor for our 3.5 year old son who loves to sing. His passion for music is better than his pitch, but we believe he's decently good for his age. He's a bit eccentric, but very sweet.
The ideal tutor would provide private lessons to our son at our home near SDSU, and have good patience with kids. We have a decent keyboard with monitor speakers. The key goals would be to foster his love of music and singing, improve his pitch, lay the foundation for him reading/writing sheet music, and ideally see if we can achieve perfect pitch by getting an early start.
He has songs that he likes and sings frequently, such as the Trolls soundtrack, and other kids songs, but he also loves Alecia Keys "Girl on Fire" and other contemporary music.
Occasionally incorporating some of his favorite songs into his lessons may improve his level of engagement and participation. He responds very favorably at his daycare to female teachers, showing respect and attentiveness. For some reason with male teachers (and Dad) his focus can fade more easily.
If you happen to speak Spanish, that would be a nice plus (but not required), since there are many Spanish kids songs that he loves as well, and we'd love to encourage him to learn more Spanish words since Mom and Dad are both bilingual.
