Description

The purpose of this position is to directly assist daily material operations for inventory. This is accomplished by assisting in the strategic procurement and inventory management of materials, managing revenue and non-revenue inventory, overseeing multiple warehouse facilities, purchasing goods, services, supervising staff, providing technical support and training to subordinate staff and District employees, testing the functionality of system procurement and material management software, completing warehouse safety inspections, managing facility issues within the warehouses, and providing information for the purpose of union interactions.

Assist in completing purchasing functions, to meet District supply needs, by locating and recommending suppliers. and ensures goods and services are delivered in a timely manner.

Examples of Duties

Assist in managing inventory, overseeing warehouse operations, forecasting parts stock levels, distribution of parts to departments, completing periodic inventory to ensure system accuracy

Complete purchasing functions, recommend suppliers, adhere to principles and practices of procurement within District standards, create electronic purchase orders, assist in evaluation of bid solicitation to ensure all procurements are in accordance with all local, state and federal requirements

Supervise and direct activities of staff, at multiple facilities, providing technical support and training counsel and discipline staff and adhere to administrative and union collective bargaining agreements.,

Manage facility issues and safety inspections, ensure a clean, safe working environment in accordance with OSHA regulations, prepare for future build out of new facilities and oversee facilities as assigned.

Coordinate shipping and receiving, ensuring goods and services are delivered in a timely manner.

Warranty tracking and returns, ensure all returned parts are checked for warranty status, prepare warranty paperwork and request RMA, return warranty parts(s) to manufacture for replacement or credit, receive and track corresponding returns/credits.

Development and revision of department SOPS, collaborating with management and staff regarding parts inventory, surplus disposal, warranty returns for credit and request for warranty repairs of subcomponents.

Organize and maintain warehouses, determine obsolete inventory and the surplus sale or disposal of such parts.

Collaborate and communicate with SacRT's approved and potential vendors. researching potential products and services while comparing price and quality to ensure SacRT receives the best value.

Assist parts division at multiple locations, meeting with personnel on a regular basis and discussing trends in parts utilization, determining proper inventory levels and steps to keep consumables in stock.

Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. SacRT reserves the right to determine the equivalences of education and experience.

Education: Associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from an accredited college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school in Construction or Facilities Management, building inspection/code enforcement or a related field.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of experience in materials management, inventory control, and/or procurement related activities. One (1) year of lead or supervisory experience is preferred.

Certification & Other Requirements: Possession of a valid driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a valid California Class C driver's license.

Proof of required education beyond high school, such as college transcripts, diplomas, and/or certificates must be submitted at the time of application, if not substituting experience for the education requirement.
