We specialize in smog checks, vehicle emissions testing, and repairs. We’re seeking a reliable and experienced Smog Technician & Shop Manager to not only perform smog tests but also manage the day-to-day operations of the shop.

Job Description:

As a Smog Technician & Shop Manager, you will be responsible for performing smog and emissions tests while managing the shop independently. This is a hands-on role, where you will oversee daily operations, ensure excellent customer service, and handle all aspects of the business when on duty.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform state-mandated smog and emissions tests on gasoline, hybrid, and diesel vehicles.

Diagnose and repair emissions-related issues as necessary.

Ensure compliance with all state and local emissions regulations.

Manage the shop's daily operations, including opening/closing, scheduling, and maintaining cleanliness.

Assist customers with test results, explain options, and provide recommendations for repairs.

Process customer payments, invoices, and handle administrative duties.

Monitor inventory and order necessary supplies.

Maintain accurate records of smog tests and certifications.

Ensure that the shop runs efficiently and provide updates to the owner as needed.

Address any customer concerns and resolve issues independently.

Stay up to date on the latest state emissions laws, equipment, and certifications.

Qualifications:

Valid Smog Technician license/certification (Required).

Proven experience in automotive emissions testing.

Strong understanding of state and local emissions standards.

Experience managing or supervising an automotive shop is a plus.

Ability to work independently and handle all aspects of shop management.

Strong customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Basic computer skills for managing shop software, records, and invoices.

Valid driver’s license.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 44 per week

Schedule:

Monday to Friday
