WECA is a nonprofit organization serving merit shop electrical contractors, their employees and the industry suppliers that support them. In California, WECA offers federal and state-approved Commercial, Residential, and Low Voltage (Voice Data Video and Fire Life Safety) Electrical Apprenticeship programs, a state-approved Electrician Trainee program, certification exam preparation classes, and state-approved continuing education classes for journeyperson electricians and low voltage technicians. In Arizona, WECA offers a federal and state-approved Commercial Electrical Apprenticeship program and continuing education classes for Journeyperson electricians. In Utah, WECA offers a federal and state-approved Commercial Electrical Apprenticeship program. WECA additionally shares its expertise by producing curriculum products and publications for the industry.

This is an onsite position, no tele-work. The IT Support Specialist is responsible for handling Desktop Support requests from WECA/ ATT employees, including performing hardware and software configuration and installation, and assisting with PC, network, and software troubleshooting, assists Active Directory and Office 365 tasks as well as copier and phone systems support. Is responsible for technical support for distance learning students and instructors, (including early evening technical support, Mondays through Thursdays, and 1-2 Saturday mornings per month); functions as backup for support and maintenance Learning Management Systems. Assists IT Manager

Essential Functions:

IT/Desktop Support:

1. Performs internal desktop support, including quarterly one-on-one meetings with staff members to augment competence and gather usage patterns.

2. Troubleshoot and resolve all problems encountered with hardware and software. Escalate requests to the IT manager, as needed.

3. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, connection, printer, phone system and software issues reported through Asset Essentials.

4. Performs basic data entry receipt reconciliation for IT expenses and other basic departmental accounting functions.

5. Coordinate access to student facing Windows servers.

6. Performs basic tasks in Office 365, including adding and removing mailboxes.

7. Edit user rights on folders with Active Directory.

8. Assists in the training of users to enhance productivity.

9. Increase efficiency, technical ability, and interpersonal skills with users and management.

10. Maintains the organization of the IT office and maintains proper collection and disposal of e-waste.

11. Maintains inventory of IT assets and keys.

12. Configures and maintains MFA for laptop and desktop computers.

13. New computer configuration and deployment

14. Perform periodic server audits for maintenance and security, including cybersecurity system monitoring.

15. Assist with classroom technology updates (Smartboards, Cameras, communication devices)

16. Assist with VPN maintenance and access.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience:

1. At least one year of proven professional experience providing technical/desktop support in a Windows environment for both software and hardware.

2. Excellent computer skills with experience working with web-based content management systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

3. Experience troubleshooting Windows 11 is a must.

4. Experience with or ability in learning platforms and software such as Adobe Connect, Adobe Acrobat Pro, eInstruction ExamView, Articulate, and WECA’s proprietary programs.

5. Experience troubleshooting common office equipment such as printers and copiers.

6. Customer-service oriented and able to provide in-person, chat, phone, and/or email support cheerfully and patiently to users from a variety of backgrounds and varying levels of comfort with technology.

Salary and Benefits:

Full Time position - $21.00 to $23.00 per hour
