OVERVIEW: The Family Support Trainer provides education and support for families identified at risk for family conflict. The Family Support Trainer will provide evidence-based lessons to families individually and in group settings in the home, school or other community-based locations that best meet the needs of families. The Family Support Trainer will also provide evidence base lesson to students in group setting in school and other community based locations.

DUTIES:

Conduct strengths, risks and needs analysis of all members of the family referred to the program.

Provide baseline assessment and post-assessment of each family as required and review results with each family and enter the data into the data monitoring system

Provide evidence-based lessons to families commensurate with families’ needs, agency policies and curriculum standards.

Provide services in-home, in the school and in various community sites.

Deliver lessons individually and in small groups.

Assist families to engage in appropriate problem solving and coping skills.

Promote appropriate parenting and disciplinary skills with parents. Provide positive role modeling through appropriate verbal redirection of children.

Staff all critical incidents with a supervisor in a timely manner to ensure safety and in compliance with agency policies.

Assist family members to better understand their responsibility for the well being and safety of themselves and their children.

Utilize community resources to help families meet the goals on their support plan, referring families to appropriate community resources as needed.

Follow curriculum-based materials to educate families.

Follow up with mental health referrals as needed.

Conduct group educational sessions (social skills and/or violence prevention) with youth with fidelity to the evidence-based curriculum and agency policies.

Utilize creative and engaging teaching modalities to increase participation and retention of youth in programs.

Provide basic classroom behavioral management techniques as needed.

Follow monitoring of participants in sessions and, if necessary, follow up with youth and families to support continued participation.

Provide baseline assessment and post-assessment of each youth as required and enter the data into the data monitoring system.

Provide rewards/incentives for ongoing participation and graduation from the program.

Encourage family participation in sessions to support skill-building at home and in other settings.

Provide services in the school and in various community sites.

Collaborate with school personnel and ensure compliance with district policies.

Staff all critical incidents with a supervisor in a timely manner to ensure safety in compliance with agency policies.

Participate in scheduled supervision to review cases.

Attend required agency trainings, meetings and events.

Coordinate services with school sites and community partners as required.

Participate in outreach presentations as scheduled.

Follow up with referrals to community-based resources.

Write and maintain accurate family case files, including but not limited to, correspondence, screenings, check lists, referrals, etc.

Include conduct and document baseline and post assessments.

Maintain timely and accurate date entry.

Develop written family support plan.

Prepare Critical incident and Suspected Child Abuse reports as necessary.

Research additional resources and services for families.

Perform data entry duties as needed.

LOCATION: 2750 Sutterville Rd., Sacramento, CA 95820

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

SALARY: $20.09 to $22.60 per hour, to start

QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.

BA degree from an accredited college or university and 6 months of experience working with children and families in a social services or community-based program are required; Or

At least 60 units completed from an accredited college and 2 years of experience working with children and families in a social services or community-based program are required; Or

At least 30 units completed from an accredited college and 3 years of experience working with children and families in a social services or community-based program are required.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) language proficiency may be required for this position.

Previous experience in providing school-based, in-home or group-based instruction is highly desired.

Driving is an essential function of this job, and as such, employees in this position will be required to furnish their own vehicle to be used in the course of employment. A valid driver’s license and minimum insurance coverage is also required.

Knowledge of Mental Health Issues.

Knowledge and ability to enter information in databases.
