Economic Development Program Coordinator
Job Description Position Summary
Mutual Assistance Network (MAN) is a community development organization dedicated to
advancing social and economic opportunities so families can thrive. MAN works to strengthen
the existing social and economic infrastructure of Del Paso Heights, Arden Arcade, and the
surrounding Northern Sacramento neighborhoods. With more than 30 years in the community,
MAN’s approach to work is firmly rooted in racial equity, social justice, and ensuring daily
practices and principles are reflective of the cultures, beliefs, and values of the communities we
serve.
MAN is recruiting an Economic Development Program Coordinator.
All duties will be performed within a strength-based, culturally responsive and in a trauma informed manner.
The Economic Development Program Coordinator is supervised by the Economic Development Program Manager.
Position Details:
Position is full-time, hourly, and non-exempt.
Compensation: $27-$29 /hour
Essential Functions:
1.) Agency Mission and Vision:
Work in collaboration with other agency leaders to ensure agency mission, vision and
daily operations of organization are met
Foster and model agency assumptions and standards utilizing the parallel process to
ensure positive agency culture and team morale
Present to community members the daily operations and contractual milestones relate to
the organization’s mission, vision, and Continuum of Change.
Foster and implement creative and inclusive economic development strategies that seek
to create wealth, prosperity and improve the quality of life for communities, business
owners and residents
Fulfill roles within contracts and corresponding contractual requirements assigned by
Program Manager.
2.) Cultural Responsiveness:
Provide linguistically and culturally sensitive care to promote the reduction of cultural
barriers to all the community while acknowledging and addressing personal biases as
they arise.
Ability to work in and support a team approach with diverse sectors of the community,
including but not limited to, government officials, residents, children, parents, school
personnel, and community-based providers.
Has awareness regarding race, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity and other
cultural identities, with an ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse
workgroups and serve families with diverse economic, social, racial, and cultural
backgrounds with dignity, humility, and respect.
A willingness to gain cultural understanding necessary to work sensitively and
appropriately with a diverse population.
Familiarity with the community and neighborhood where MAN's services are located and
surrounding communities and neighborhoods.
Knowledge, understanding, and/or willingness to learn values, beliefs, and practices of
cultural groups within diverse communities.
Willingness to actively grow skills relating to cultural responsiveness.
Support to Neighborhood Residents and Partners
Work alongside neighborhood residents to ensure MAN is interconnected with
neighborhood activities.
Serve as the agency liaison to partner organizations, community groups, businesses,
schools, and programs that are essential to neighborhood development and growth.
Attend community meetings and events outside of the agency as assigned by a program
manager to develop and maintain meaningful, authentic relationships with neighborhood
partners, residents and community leader.
Ability to support a collaborative process with stakeholders (such as partners, elected
officials, community residents and business owners) to ensure project goals are met.
Ensure individuals, families or businesses are connected to the appropriate services for
MAN.
Support navigating families, individuals, businesses, and partners with appropriate
external referral and connections.
3.) Outreach Activities:
Implement and support site-specific Recruitment Plan for Economic Development, with
the Program Manager
Establish and maintain database of community agencies, businesses, and partners while
creating relationships to obtain Economic Development referrals
Develop and maintain relationships with community service providers who are the
primary referral sources in Economic Development. Conducts outreach activities on a regular basis. Attends inter-agency and community meetings.
Builds relationships with local community organizations/partners, businesses, schools,
and elected officials.
Schedule and coordinate meetings with community organizations/partners, businesses,
schools, and elected officials.
4.) Case Management:
Work with participants empowering them with financial literacy and financial goal
planning.
Conduct intake and assessments when working with individuals, parents, caregivers or
families.
Provide case management services which may include one on one face to face support in
the community center, in their home or outside organizations as directed by supervisor.
Will carry case load of participants upon approval from the program manager.
Morey Garden
Support Program Manager with meeting coordination with community members, school
officials, school administrators and other TRUSD officials.
Support with Morey Garden payments for assigned plots at the Morey Garden location.
Contracted Economic Development Programs and Projects
Support contracted projects and programs with coordination of projects that support
economic growth, built environment, air quality, promote social cohesion and wellbeing
for residents.
Attend training and meetings from State of California Office of Communications and
Strategic Partnerships, Community, County and other related programs to obtain regular
updates and materials.
Update and distribute updated information and materials to agency staff
Coordinate outreach with Program Manager
o Outreach plans for agency staff
o Outreach plans for community partners
o Work with Program Manager with data submission from outreach outcomes
Submission of data to Program Manager for reporting
5.) Play Care
Facilitate age-appropriate play and learning opportunities for children in a structured
environment while parent(s) or caregivers engage in a class or activity at the community
center
Staff play care as needed or assigned and alert community center manager of play care
needs
Ensure the physical and emotional health, safety and well-being of kids in play care.
Be responsible for the infants/children in play care or in other community center
activities
Other Functions:
Assist with and participate in outreach, community engagements, referrals, and volunteer
connection.
Serve as a representative on all large agency events, activities and committees.
Maintain a safe, clean, resourceful, and enriching environment for families and staff.
Assist with, conduct and/or participate in Mutual Assistance Network’s Community
Centers (also referred to as Family Resource Center) classes, events and activities.
Complete documentation, required reports and data collection in a timely manner
Participate in program evaluation planning and implementation
Attend and participate in all trainings, team meetings and team building activities
Meet with the Program Manager for weekly supervision and keep supervisor informed of
crucial concerns as they occur.
Participate as a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Resource Team (MRT) or MultiDisciplinary Team (MDT) of service providers, and presenting assigned individuals,
caregivers or families to the MRT as required.
Consult with MRT/MDT members regarding issues the individual, caregiver or family
may experience that need additional assessments, referrals, or services.
Facilitate and document ongoing progress of the MRT and/or MDT action plan.
Attend meetings, trainings, events as assigned by Program Manager or Director
Must report to work site as scheduled and agreed upon with Program Manager or
Director.
Complete documentation required reports and data collection according to program and
agency guidelines requirement.
Other duties as assigned by Program Manager or Director.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Familiarity with the Arden Arcade, Del Paso Heights and surrounding Northern
Sacramento neighborhoods.
Ability to work with diverse workgroups and serve families with diverse economic,
social, racial, and cultural backgrounds.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be self-motivated, flexible and able to prioritize multiple tasks effectively to meet
deadlines.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required to ensure deadlines are met or attend
agency meetings and/or events
Physical Qualifications:
Ability to work in office setting and operate basic office equipment (phones, fax and
copy machine)
Ability to perform basic computer functions (word processing, internet research, email
Ability to work with individuals in their home environment
Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 lbs.
Ability to frequently sit, bend, twist, squat, kneel, reach, push and pull
Ability to occasionally walk up to one mile intermittingly with breaks
Ability to climb stairs
Other Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
Clearance of fingerprint background check.
Must possess a valid California Driver’s license, reliable transportation and auto
insurance.
Able to travel between sites and to offsite events.
Valid California Driver’s License, own transportation, automobile insurance and must be
able to pass DOJ clearance.
