Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Coordinator is responsible for the administration duties and coordination of projects, social media and online presence; mail and fundraising initiatives; event execution with volunteers and contractors for the Development and Marketing department.

Essential Functions

Conducts data entry, recognition, receipting and coordination of information through UCP Door management software (DonorPerfect).

Assists with managing UCP signature special event (Humanitarian of the Year) and other key events (Golf tournament, Big Day of Giving, STEPtember).

Understands and executes strategic development and marketing initiatives and goals by Director of Development and Marketing.

Coordinates comprehensive grants research, drafts applications and completes reporting for non-government funding.

Strategically developing new content to tell UCP story, impact, and vision for the future, and carry out processes efficiently to gather and develop written material.

Conducts recruiting, orientation and coordination of events and office volunteers and department contractors.

Support a positive and responsive relationship with donors and supporters through a direct response campaign, including a comprehensive year-end campaign, annual reports and implementation of donor recognition matrix.

Attend outreach events as needed and support Development staff with programmatic requirements of grants and strategic goals of the organization, including the development of new partnerships and fundraising.

Research prospects for sponsorships, corporate, foundation and employee giving.

In conjunction with the Director of Development, assist with editing content for donor thank you letters and emails, donor spotlights, and social media posts.

Assist with marketing coordination in the areas of branding, design, public relations, media relations and print and web content.

Contribute sponsor and donor content for newsletters, website and social media channels.

Manage multiple projects and initiatives at a time.

Support department meetings; prepare room set up, refreshments, agenda, and minutes.

Regular and predictive attendance.

Other duties as required.

Required Education and Experience

Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in

Communications or related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of fund development or sales experience required; strong knowledge of nonprofit fundraising practices and financial principles.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, both in person and over the phone.

Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain attention to detail with proven ability to meet deadlines.

Interpersonal Skills: Approachable and professional demeanor.

Tech-Savvy. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and proficiency in DonorPerfect Online or similar CRM systems, Constant Contact, and Canva.

Confidentiality: Strong understanding of maintaining confidentiality in handling donor database.

Decision making: Ability to demonstrate good decision-making, problem-solving and independent judgment skills; ability to identify and analyze appropriate data for proposals.

Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with other departments as well as ability to work independently.

Critical Thinking: Highly organized and strategic; strong commitment to forward-facing, donor-focused fundraising activities.

Written Communication: Excellent writing and editing skills and ability to demonstrate attention to detail.

Current CA Drives License and auto insurance.

Location

This position is located on site at UCP of Sacramento and Northern California, 4350 Auburn Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95841. Work may be offsite at various locations which may include inside facilities and also and outside facilities.
