Job Summary: The role of the CNC Programmer is to use advanced programming techniques and processes to produce accurate and quality programs for the Machining and EDM shops. The CNC Programmer will also support with quoting development by providing part manufacturing information to the Production Manager. This team member can successfully relay machining strategies for multifaceted jobs. The ability to organize multiple projects and apply high level critical thinking skills is crucial for success in this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Programming of basic to high-end jobs on 3 axis, 5 axis and/or lathes

Determines type of materials or equipment requirements;

Utilizes knowledge of products to be manufactured using blueprints and specifications.

Be sought out to provide technical solutions to less experienced team members

Design and program custom fixtures for the machining of parts with various complexities

Responsible for checking parts to print and models using various inspections techniques if required

Efficiently apply concepts to machine parts

Keep a clean and orderly work area

Complete machine setup sheets for all jobs programmed

Inspect all work completed by Programmers before releasing them to the floor

Edit existing programs and setups if needed

Fill out shop request forms if tooling is needed for a project

Determine the correct tooling for the job to ensure quality and lowest spindle time

Perform other duties as assigned

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

Advanced knowledge of Fusion 360 programming software

Advanced understanding of G-code

Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks modeling software

Advanced knowledge of 3 axis, 5 axis and lathe machining

Advanced knowledge of complex fixturing techniques

Advanced knowledge of high tolerance machining and geometric dimensioning

Advanced knowledge of shop mechanics, mathematics and measurement

Experienced working with multiple types of materials

Advanced understanding of tooling type (speeds, feeds, surface footage, etc.)

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or equivalent required

Degree in Machine Tool, Manufacturing Technology or related field preferred

A minimum of 5 years CNC programming and/or machining experience required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time

Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment, hand/power tools, etc. and handle and feel parts of various size

Ability to bend, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout the shift

Ability to push, pull or lift 50 lbs. moderately throughout the workday, occasionally 50+lbs. with a team lift

Ability to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp focus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Fast-paced environment

Noise conditions can be moderate to extreme. Hearing protection will be provided if needed and/or by request

Exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles

Moving mechanical parts and vibration

Exposure to hot metal and machining components

Exposure to various coolants and oils

WORK HOURS:

1st Shift Work Schedule: 5 8-hour shifts

Overtime as necessary
