Local Social Security Disability/SSI law firm located in the Arden area of Sacramento seeking a LAW CLERK / BRIEF WRITER.
JOB DUTIES:
The primary job duty of the position will be to prepare draft pre-hearing briefs to be submitted to an Administrative Law Judge for disability hearings. This will involve extensive review and summarization of medical records in a chronological, narrative format. This position involves extensive writing and handling of confidential information.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal applicant must possess excellent writing and typing skills. They must have an above-average understanding of punctuation, grammar, spelling, etc. They must be reliable and able to work without micromanagement. They must be able to complete tasks within strict deadlines. Finally, the ideal candidate would be a quick learner and detail-oriented.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Although “legal” experience is not essential to this position, familiarity with medical terminology (physical and mental health) and how to interpret medical records would be a BIG plus. Experience in a law office setting would also be helpful. A certain level of training will be provided by attorneys in the firm.
HOURS / COMPENSATION:
Hours are flexible. Depending on the applicant and relevant experience, this position can range from 25 to 40 hours per week. Hourly salary depends on experience. After the appropriate probation/training period, the position MAY be able to convert to a remote or hybrid position.
