Lake Indigent Defense provides legal representation for indigent and low income people charged with crimes in Lake County by contracting with independent criminal defense attorneys. We are currently seeking applications for independent contractors who are licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar, to accept court appointments in felony cases. Contractors will be responsible for handling all stages of representation on felony criminal charges, including at preliminary hearings and jury trials. Contractors are paid a monthly flat fee.
Subcontractors can expect to handle all types of felony criminal cases, including complex criminal cases, three strikes cases, sex offenses, and non-capital homicides. The ideal applicant will have extensive experience in felony criminal defense, including having tried felony cases to verdict. However, practitioners with commensurate civil or misdemeanor criminal jury trial experience are also encouraged to apply.
The position is ideal for a practitioner who seeks to increase their trial experience, supplement an existing law practice, or establish a new practice in a community with a high demand for legal services.
