We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Spray Technician to join our team at our Winters location at 8633 Winters Road. The ideal candidate will be able to work well with others, work for extended periods and wear protective clothing in all weather conditions (hot, cold, windy, rainy, etc.). This role supports the Plant Health department by planning and performing pesticide applications on a routine basis, making suggestions on how to implement effective pesticide treatments, while following tactical instructions.
Responsibilities:
-Understanding of the Plant Health program and able to implement treatment strategies with minimal supervision.
-Operate and maintain spray machines and have an understanding of the mechanics.
-Read and understand pesticide label instructions which could involve high-school level mathematics.
-Calibrate spray applications to ensure total output matches the label instructions.
-Prepare and fill out work orders that are OSHA/EPA compliant.
-Collaborate with team members to achieve high-quality results while maintaining a safe working environment.
-Coordinate with multiple teams to ensure no risk to other agricultural workers during a pesticide treatment.
Qualifications:
-Previous experience with pesticides including mixing, loading & spraying.
-Valid Pesticide Applicator's certification.
-Perform high school level mathematics including solving equations and using formulas.
-Able to lift/carry 10-50 pounds for a period of 8 hours.
-Able to bend for extended periods of time.
-Able to read/write in English; bilingual Spanish is a plus.
-Competent in Workers' Protection Standard.
-High school diploma/GED preferred or equivalent training and experience.
