Potential Reptile Manager / Caretaker / Husbandry Specialist
[MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH REPTILES. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE AFRAID OF SNAKES or afraid being bit; Experience with snakes is a big plus)
We are currently looking for someone to help us grow our small reptile facility / farm. The individual we desire to find must be self-motivated and must have the ability to perform tasks without constant supervision.
The owner needs immediate assistance in managing the collection, so he can focus on expansion & other work. We want to build a new structure on the property so we can double in size, and to do this we need a diligent snake husbandry pro / reptile enthusiast; We are busy, busy. We are looking for someone that wants to grow with us and that can grow into a manager position, to ultimately manage a very large collection held in multiple locations (teach and train others down the road).
We are searching for someone that lives in or Near Elk Grove / Hwy 99 / or lives close enough to not have travel be an issue.
We are a small family business. We have our children on the property and ONLY are in search of a respectful & well-mannered individual to help us.
We are Snake Breeders: WE WANT a reptile enthusiast or someone that understand reptiles (snakes would be a big plus) to help us MANAGE the growing collection. We have smaller and larger constrictor species; We anticipate breeding tortoise’s, many colubrids and other reptiles, when we can add another building to our property in the future. The job is not easy and only someone that understands reptiles can do the work that is needed efficiently.
[Part time to start- then can turn into FULL time]
Currently we need (can be simi-flexible)
Mon: Part time 5-8 hours
Weds: Part time 5-8 hours
Friday: Part time 5-8 hours
Possible weekends for the right individual
[we can function with you as an employee or contractor. If you are to be a contractor, you would have to prove your reliability on self-management)
Job Scope | Full Time:
Job Scope-
Animal Care: Tending to our reptile collection. Cleaning cages (primary), washing tubs & water bowls (most water bows are dispensable as we use rack systems with cup holders) & keeping the facilities sanitary & presentable. This is the most important part of the job as reptile manager. Ensuring the collection always has fresh water and is clean.
Following sanitary and bio-cross-contamination protocols are very important to us. We use a different glove for EVERY cage and have a specific way to water the snakes.
We have divided the facility into 3 sections. Every day you are to clean and work a different section and service the animals. We have A LOT of animals, so this is only for a strong minded, hardworking, and sharp individual.
We also breed rodents on the property. You will be assisting in maintaining those animals as well (when needed) . It is extremely simple to do, and we will teach you.
We will be growing our rodent operation soon and growing rabbits as well.
We are expanding. So, we need a well-rounded individual.
Random task for upkeep of property:
Different projects will come up from time to time. We anticipate working with someone that is a huge team player and is not afraid of assisting in different working situations as they arise.
Experience in Landscape / property maintenance: Planting of trees, creating a garden, mowing, concrete, stonework, general constriction is a PLUS. This could give you more work if we need it and as we grow the farm / business.
We WANT A GOOD PERSON that will treat our property and animals with extreme respect and care:
Ultimately, we are looking for someone that cares about animals and has some time on their hands. Someone that wants to be a part of our small farm for the long run. Someone that is very "meticulous" and is a company person. Someone that is willing to put the work in to grow with us.
(We would prefer a part time position in the beginning so that we can ensure you are trained correctly / know what you are doing. Then, you can move to full time- as most of the job will be without direct and constant supervision). IF YOU HAVE TRUE experience with snakes, specifically boas, we may be more inclined to bringing you on with more hours faster.
Pay:
Semi-Negotiable after you are proven to be an asset! You will start at $18 to ensure you can do the job. You can be eligible for a raise after a 30-60 trial period. Possible pay increases as time goes on and depends on how efficient you are and if you can manage others and larger projects regarding the reptile industry.
For 3 full 8-hour days a week = that’s $430 to start
(As we grow the farm, there is a possible live on-site position for the right person if the circumstances make sense / we would acquire a trailer for the right person)
We are doing phone interviews now. Please reach out ASAP for further details.
Please TEXT a detailed message first to gain a phone call and then to schedule an interview.
We want to interview and start training THIS WEEK
Having experience with MORPH MARKET & Husbandry Apps is a BIG PLUS
Sincerely,
Mel or Mike
