We are seeking a creative, positive, proactive self-starter individual to join our team as the Human Resources Manager with primary responsibilities over the North American HR activities of BCFoods, Inc., and secondary responsibilities over European HR activities.

This is a hands-on position involving day to day HR activity in addition to supervision of small HR/payroll staff. Currently North American responsibilities would include two manufacturing / processing facilities located in the Sacramento and Chicago areas and corporate office locations in Santa Rosa and Davis, California, as well as offsite individual employee locations in multiple states. This position is currently expected to be based in Davis, California, with travel to Chicago, Woodland, CA and Santa Rosa, CA as needed. Some additional travel to Europe and China may be required as BCFoods continues to expand via acquisitions in the coming years.

The Human Resources Manager role will support, maintain and enhance the organizations human resource needs by planning, implementing and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs and practices. This position will report to the BCFoods Vice President of Finance; and will work closely with various business unit general managers, plant managers and finance managers/CFOs. As this will be a new position within BCFoods, a successful candidate will be one who can demonstrate the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and can build the human resources department as BCFoods grows and expands.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelors degree and/or equivalent work experience of 5+ years in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Labor Relations or Business.

Solid foundation of HR knowledge, employment laws and practices.

Minimum of 5 years practical HR generalist and management experience.

Proven experience in handling difficult HR issues.

Bilingual or ability to communicate in Spanish effectively is preferred.

Demonstrated effectiveness in written and verbal communications.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).

Knowledge in compensation strategies, performance management, employee relations, safety practices and talent acquisition, and the ability to apply this information in a manner that is compliant with relevant employment law.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Maintaining the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.

Maintaining the organizations work force by establishing a recruiting, testing and interviewing program, counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; recommending changes.

Maintaining a pay plan by conducting periodic compensation surveys, preparing compensation budgets, monitoring individual salary / wage actions; and recommending, planning, and implementing compensation structure revisions.

Overall management of, and assisting in, Companys payroll processing as maintained and operated by the various manufacturing / processing facilities and offices.

Onboarding and offboarding.

Maintain the confidentiality of the office of Human Resources at all times.

Maintaining employee benefits programs and informing employees of benefits by assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to senior management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluation benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting education programs on benefit plans.

Ensuring legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource Federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.

Maintaining guidelines by preparing, updating and recommending human resource policies and procedures.

Maintaining historical human resource records by designing/maintaining a filing and retrieval system; and keeping past and current records.

Maintaining and updating professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops; reviewing profession publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Travel of up to 50% may be required to facilities and offices located in California and Illinois. Travel to Europe and China may be required, but on a limited basis.
