I am looking for a committed, reliable UC Davis undergrad or graduate student to care for my mother. She is 79 years old with ALS, and recently began hospice care. She is in bed or a wheelchair 24/7 and needs caregiver support at least every 2-3 hours, and overnight in case she needs help. She has a complete hospice care team, including a nurse, bathing, and physical therapist who visit 3-4 times a week depending on her needs.
Pay starts at $25/hour, depending on your experience and reliability.
Responsibilities include: companionship, administering medication, feeding, incontinence care, and light housework. Students interested in health sciences or medical care preferred. The ideal candidate is attentive, patient, and calm, and able to follow specific directions. If you are hired you will be trained by current caregivers, my mother, and her hospice care team. My mother lives in University Retirement Community in an independent apartment. Caregivers must be able to pass a background check to work in the facility and have their own transport.
Various shifts are available depending on the day of the week. Hours can be flexible.
Mornings approximately 9-11 a.m.
Afternoons 2-5 or 6 p.m.
Nights 7 pm to 7 am
