LIVE RENT FREE! Live-in caregiver needed for male quadriplegic. Needed to start/train by end of July. As of now, my current live-in caregiver is planning on moving out by August 1st. Caregiver will be provided their own bedroom and bathroom and access to house amenities (wifi/internet/cable, laundry, etc) plus paid $17+/hr thru IHSS. Needed Monday thru Friday for approximately 8 hrs a day/40 hrs/week. Weekends negotiable. I currently have a weekend caregiver for weekend morning/evening care and my current live in caregiver feeds me lunch and helps as needed on weekends.
ABOUT ME: I am a 55-year-old male quadriplegic. I live alone in 3-bedroom house in North Natomas. I was paralyzed completely from chest down in a diving accident at age 23. I have limited function of one arm, but no hand/wrist function. Therefore, I am dependent on caregivers for all my basic needs. I am able to operate a power wheelchair, but most days I stay in bed and work on the computer. Family occasionally visit and stay in spare room, otherwise the house/backyard is basically available for caregiver use. I am liberal leaning politically so I doubt I could live with a maga cult member. Otherwise, I consider myself mellow and easy to get along with. I rarely drink and don’t do drugs other than THC.
DUTIES:
Morning care includes range-of-motion exercise, bed bath, dressing, grooming, catheter care, feeding, transfer to wheelchair (if getting up).
Evening/night care: Needed approximately 2 to 3 hours to prepare and feed me dinner, transfer me to bed, give meds, brush teeth, get me set up for the night. Three nights a week I need assistance with my bowel program and take a shower.
Other duties include cooking, feeding lunch, shopping, housecleaning, laundry, drive to Dr appointments, etc.
About you: Looking for a friendly, caring, reliable and trustworthy individual. Must have driver’s license and be eligible to be a IHSS provider (have a social security card and pass FBI fingerprint background check). Caregiving experience preferred. Must be in good mental and physical health. If you have back or strength issues or have an issue that causes you to miss work regularly, probably not a job for you.
