Job Description:
Join a team of passionate and caring people who make a difference in people’s lives. We are looking for compassionate Caregivers-Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide direct care to children ages 7years to 17years (up to 21years of age) with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Essential Responsibilities/Job Duties
Providing direct supervision. Performing personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, and ambulation, medical monitoring, and health care related tasks. Fostering positive relationships between individuals served and their housemates, staff, and others involved in their care
Assisting in implementing program plans
Ensuring client safety and maintaining a safe environment
Assisting with activities of daily living (dressing, bathing, feeding, ambulation, transfer, and toileting)
Reminding/assisting client with self-administration of medications (with proper training)
Encouraging self-help activities
Reporting changes in client's condition (Mental/physical) or family situation to the administrator or designee
Documenting services provided
Performing home management functions such as housekeeping, laundry, bed making, cleaning, and organizing
Planning meals, preparing list/shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, feeding and clean-up
Accompanying client to scheduled appointments
Transporting clients or running errands for clients as needed/assigned by administrator
Implementing/utilizing behavior plans as per IPP
Implementing/utilizing crisis interventions plans
Providing supervision
Other duties as assigned by the administrator or designee
Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED (Preffered)
18 years of age or older
Valid driver's license (Preferred)
Must pass background check
Authorized to legally work in the United States
Must be able to provide negative TB test or negative chest x-ray
Must pass Finger print clearance
Positive attitude and team player
CPR and first aid certification
Ability to work in a group home
Ability to communicate (verbally and written) in English with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company
Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time
Must maintain state regulatory certifications, as required by state/program requirements
Must complete CEUs and trainings as required by title 17 and Title 22 regulations
