OverviewBuilt-in 1973 Dignity Health Methodist Hospital of Sacramento is committed to providing daily excellence in health care for residents of Sacramento’s southern suburbs including the Elk Grove Wilton and Galt communities. Methodist Hospital is home to a 158 acute-care bed facility with 1120 employees 283 medical staff and 29 Emergency Department beds. Methodist Hospital also owns and operates Bruceville Terrace – a 171-bed sub-acute skilled nursing long-term care facility adjacent to the hospital that provides care for the elderly as well as those requiring extended recoveries. Methodist Hospital is home to the Family Medicine Residency Program an accredited and nationally recognized program which provides resident physicians with specialty training in primary care family medicine. Together the hospital and residency program implemented a ground-breaking curriculum addressing the identification treatment and assistance of human trafficking victims and created a one-of-a-kind health clinic for victims the Human Trafficking Medical Home.ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:Under the supervision of the manager and/or the medical director of the EKG/ECHO Departments the incumbent is responsible for the performance of 2D color flow Doppler Echocardiographic Studies to include TEE and Bubble Study Procedures as ordered for inpatients and outpatients across all age groups.Principle Duties and Accountabilities:

Demonstrates competency in patient care for neonatal pediatric adolescent adult and geriatric patients. Scores at least 2 on Adult Cardiography Clinical Competency score sheet.

Interprets electrocardiograms recognizing significant electrocardiographic changes with less than 3 exceptions per year. Able to recognize normal and abnormal structures of the heart and great vessels including but not limited to the Cardiac chambers and related septa (right atrium left atrium right ventricle left ventricle) Cardiac valves and related apparatus (tricuspid valve pulmonic valve mitral valve and annulus aortic valve and annulus). Able to identify normal pressure of cardiac chambers and principles of flow. Demonstrates ability in assessing left ventricular regional wall motion abnormalities. Able to recognize right heart abnormalities and dysfunction. Can identify pericardium pericardial space and can differentiate degrees of pericardial effusion vs. cardiac tamponade.

Maintains and calibrates all equipment necessary for each procedure. Calibration will be documented with less than 3 exceptions per year.

Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on instruments and other equipment used and maintains adequate materials and supplies used. Maintenance and supplies will be completed with less than 3 exceptions per year.

Maintains records and charts of all procedures performed with less than 3 exceptions per year.

Participates in departmental CQI program in the collection of data and documentation of statistics. Statistics will be submitted by the 15th of the month after each quarter ends with less than 2 exceptions per year.

Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on instruments and other equipment used and maintains adequate materials and supplies used. Maintenance and supplies will be completed with less than 3 exceptions per year.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) eligible

Two (2) years of college education from an accredited Echocardiographic and Doppler Technology Program

One (1) year of experience in performing 2D color flow Doppler Echocardiographic Studies

One (1) year of experience in performing Adult TEE Bubble and Pediatric Studies

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
