We are collaborative, curious, and committed to excellence—these are qualities we value that make us who we are and inspire us to grow.ICF is in an exciting period of expansion and invites applications for a senior scientist/biometrician with strong statistical and modeling experience for a new position in ICF’s Fisheries & Aquatic Science team. You will design studies, analyze data, develop proposals, and collaborate on scientific manuscripts. You will assist in exploring new research opportunities focusing on applied quantitative modeling.Responsibilities

Provide guidance and oversee hypothesis testing, data collection, model development, statistical analysis, and problem-solving for various projects, studies, and other client assignments.

Complete research, technical writing, and data analysis related to project tasks, summarize and display data.

Develop scope and write proposals, objectives, tasks, and budgets for small projects.

Work closely with Senior Scientists and follow outlines provided by Project Managers to develop project reports, including graphs and data summaries.

Serve as a task lead on multiple projects and guide Biologists and Technicians successfully to help support the project work and data collection.

Maintain client relationships and distribute periodic project updates for lead projects. Attend client meetings as necessary.

Attend and present at scientific meetings; support other Biologists and Technicians in presenting at scientific or industry meetings.

Conduct literature reviews and increase familiarity with scientific literature relevant to projects.

Education/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in fisheries, biology, or equivalent science-related field plus ten years of successful and sustained performance in Biologist positions.

Demonstrated data management and entry skills, developing graphs and data analysis, and communicating project methods and findings in presentations and reports.

Additional Skills and Experience

A Ph.D. in a fisheries-related science

Demonstrated leadership skills, including training and supervising junior staff in data entry, analysis, and other aspects of scientific design and analysis.

Ability to conduct sophisticated statistical analyses of biological data.

Ability to accurately interpret and follow established guidelines and procedures and communicate accordingly to staff.

Ability to produce accurate and quality work products promptly and be accountable for meeting objectives.

Recognized as an expert in the field, with strong connections to a network of federal, tribal, and industry colleagues.

Demonstrated knowledge and aptitude for mark-recapture analysis and stock-recruitment relationships.

Applicants should have a demonstrated track record of procuring funds to support research or project activities.

Familiar with and have a demonstrated track record with machine learning, generalized linear models, and simulation models.

Well-versed in R and other computing platforms such as Python for analyzing data. Candidate must be able to manage several projects and serve as the Project/Task Lead on research studies carried out by ICF’s Fish and Aquatic Science Team.

A strong quantitative background and experience in multispecies modeling is desired.
