Patient Account Representative

Description We are seeking a meticulous Patient Account Representative to join our team in Sacramento, California. The role involves handling the pre-visit process for high-cost injectable drugs, managing unpaid balances, and ensuring the practice is reimbursed for these drugs. This position also requires verifying insurance coverage and eligibility, investigating drug benefits, obtaining pre-authorizations, and communicating financial responsibilities to patients. Responsibilities: Facilitate face-to-face or over-the-phone interactions with patients regarding billing questions Draft effective appeal letters for initial and second level appeals Evaluate account balances and decide on further actions Assist patients with co-pay procedures, including sending out packets, answering questions, enrolling online, and providing information to qualify patients Utilize payer websites to check claim and appeal status Respond to drug team queue calls from patients and clinics Carry out other duties as assigned Oversee the accounting for, and proper storage of, high-cost drugs inventory at each clinic location Make reasonable efforts to collect the patient portion prior to the injection Handle any drug-related insurance claim denials or outstanding accounts receivable balances. Requirements Proficiency in medical billing and medical collections Familiarity with NextGen software Understanding of prescription drug, copays, and insurance denials Experience in denial management Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially Solid data entry and computer skills Ability to work independently and in a team Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
