We are continuously developing new answers for rail automation – often to questions that haven’t been asked yet.Position Overview:As a Group Lead Manufacturing Technician in our Final Assembly, Locomotive department, you will provide the coordination for daily duties, work assignments to all team members, closely monitor the manufacturing progress, and provide support of assigned employees.What your day will look like:

Provides work assignments and work instructions to employees throughout each workday.

Assists and trains employees in new job assignments. Coordinates work schedules with other Group Leaders and/or Supervisors and maintains work status.

Performs quality checks on work being performed.

Monitors employees' safety, quality, methods and output.

Keeps supervision informed of work plans, status, and employee performance.

Assists in preparing mock-ups and prototyping first production vehicles.

Prepares and/or reviews employee time sheets and other labor input documents.

Assists the supervisor in conducting regular safety meetings.

Performs information inquiries and/or transactions using computer terminals to support other duties and responsibilities.

Works from detailed engineering drawings to fit-up piece parts in fixturing: assembly components consisting of steel channels, brackets, angles, sheathing, assemblies and subassemblies.

Tack welds all parts together in equipment. Welds all assemblies according to AWS D 1.1 and 1.3. Meets production schedule with minimum supervision.

What will make you successful:

2 Years’ experience in a Manufacturing Environment

Experience leading a diverse team in a production environment

Full understanding of manufacturing drawings, able to verify dimensions. Must understand tolerances.

A history of “hands-on” approach to problem solving and countermeasure implementation within own areas of responsibility.

We would be impressed if you had:

3 + years of experience planning and supporting launch of new production lines in a low-speed production environment (e.g. rail, aviation/aerospace, naval, heavy equipment, etc.).

Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering (Or Equivalent Experience)

Work experience in the rail business, preferably in light rail, heavy rail, or related production, is needed.

Knowledge of SAP or similar MRP / ERP systems is highly desired.

Practical experience in Customer Service / Maintenance / After Market businesses and technologies within the rail industry Highly preferred.
