In this job, you will manage projects and programs of work for environmental compliance including California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) or National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) disciplines such as aesthetics, biology, archaeology, traffic, air quality, hazardous materials, faults, environmental justice, etc. The position will contribute to cross-functional teams to ensure the environmental review and analysis of projects and programs of work in collaboration with key stakeholders. Responsible for coordinating with project teams, agency peers, and the Environmental Department management during the environmental review phase.

Lead multi-disciplinary technical teams and external consultants to perform environmental analysis of planned and emergent projects for all CEQA/NEPA disciplines.

Manage external environmental consultants to maintain performance expectations and ensure accurate, high quality, timely deliverables. Manage consultant work scopes, budgets, and invoices and resolve issues.

Engage with operational partners and provide strategies to review project/program work and recommendations to drive regulatory compliance.

Contribute to the development of technical resource area processes and/or guidance for projects to ensure consistency and standardization of environmental impact analysis and development of avoidance and/or mitigation measures.

Establish and track performance and provide project status for monthly performance meetings on a high volume of projects.

Serve as a subject matter expert in providing interpretation of environmental regulations and rules that affect the environmental review process for projects.

QualificationsThe essentials

Seven (7) or more years of relevant environmental experience including land use planning and environmental requirements pursuant to CEQA or NEPA.

The preferred

Bachelor degree in engineering, biology, archaeology, geology, or environmental science.

Seven (7) years of experience in managing or supervising environmental projects.

Experience presenting results to peers, clients and leadership teams and leading discussions using strong verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated experience in budgeting and planning.

Experience as a subject matter expert in effectively managing business risks, interacting with agencies, and identifying new and existing opportunities to minimize operational impacts.

Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with business partners, cross-functional project teams, peers, all levels of managements, and external stakeholders.

Experience in geographic information systems.

Utility industry experience.

Holds Project Management certification and/or Lean Six Sigma certification.

You should know

This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
