Job DescriptionJoin the Clean Energy RevolutionBecome a Telecommunication Helper at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be responsible for the construction, inspection, maintenance, and restoration of all overhead and underground Transmission Telecom facilities. All Telecommunication Helpers may progress into the Transmission Telecom Apprentice Program after their initial six months. Assists Transmission Telecom Crews to build and maintain Southern California Edison’s Telecom fiber optic, copper, and microwave system.

Loads and unloads reels, arms, hardware, and other material.

Raises/lowers material and tools by use of handline.

Dismantles material removed from the line and places on trucks.

Digs holes for poles and anchors.

Pulls fiber and copper cable and guys to tension.

Operates equipment under close supervision, while handling heavy material, cable reels, and other loads.

Gains knowledge of tools, materials, equipment, and methods related to Telecom construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Operates Telcom specific equipment and machinery used in overhead and underground construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Performs manual labor functions as instructed.

The essentials:

Experience or training with basic construction activities.

Possess a valid Class A motor vehicle operator's license.

The preferred:

Experience with tools, materials, equipment, and methods utilized in overhead and underground Telecom construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

A certificate of completion from an SCE-accredited training program with Pole Climbing Endorsement such as East LA Skills Center, LA Trade Tech, Northwest Lineman's College, Electrical Lineman Apprentice, Electrical Line Worker or Electrical Utility Program.

CPR certification from Red Cross or American Heart Association.

The EEI CAST is held in Irwindale, California. The Groundman Physical Performance Test is held in Chino or Westminster, California. We do not offer travel reimbursement for this position. Please note that the EEI CAST and Physical are held on different days, usually a few weeks apart.
